The push button start of the Jeep Grand Cherokee can malfunction due to inadequate fuel levels or a faulty key fob battery. If the battery in the Cherokee's key fob is dead or weak, the push button start will be disabled. In particular, TSB 08-120-15, released on December 05, 2015, calls for the replacement of wiring harnesses in 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee models. The faulty harnesses can cause an intermittent no-start and failure of the Cherokee's instrument cluster lighting. Alternatively, a blown fuse can be responsible for ignition failure. Fuses housed under the hood in the engine bay are connected to the push button start, namely the M27 fuse. Driver error can also contribute to a keyless start. The brake pedal must be depressed firmly enough or the system won't activate.

If the push button start is not working in your Jeep Cherokee, try replacing the battery in your key fob and depressing the brake more firmly when engaging.
