It might sound obvious, but the first thing You should check if Your Nissan Murano's liftgate isn't working is each method of opening it. Depending on model year, You may have key fob functionality, a button on Your dash, as well as the liftgate button. If only one of these methods are failing, then You've likely found Your culprit. If they all are, it often has to do with the inner mechanism of the latch. If You're equipped with a power liftgate, You may want to look to the liftgate motor. If not, the latch, the strut, or the switch is Your most likely cause. You'll want to continue Your diagnosis by looking into each component (preferably in the order listed) until You're able to pinpoint precisely what's failed. Then, that's the component that You'll likely need to replace.

There is a on / off switch for the hatch located left of steering wheel on dash lower row of switches second in from the left. If you don't have this row of switches their depending on year it may be in glove box left hand side

The most common reason for a button to not work on the Nissan Murano is due to the wires providing it power and connection not working or being burned out.

Thank you soooo much.Been using the inside switch and the key fob which at times can be inconvenient. What a simple solution. So why can't the Nissan dealers tell you that????

According to the owner's manual check that the switch on the dash hasn't been turned off. That's what worked for me
