The central locking module in an AudiA6 C5 can be found under the driver's side of the dash. This is the brain of the lock system for Your vehicle and if You are having problems with the locks and it is not the fuse or the actuators this may be the problem. To reads everything in the central looking module You will need to use a dealership level scan tool. It can let You know if there are any problems that are detected with the software. One thing You can easily do is inspect the wiring to the unit to make sure that it is all installed tightly and free from any obvious damage that would prevent it from working right.
