The 2.0-liter engine in the 2013 VW Passat TDI takeS4.3 liters (4.5 quarts) of SAE 5W-30 motor oil. This is a very popular synthetic fluid because it's suitable for a wide variety of engines and ideal for most climates. Your vehicle is equipped with an oil life light that will illuminate in the instrument cluster when it's time to make a maintenance appointment. That light will need to be reset after the fluid has been replaced. Volkswagen recommends replacing this fluid every 6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever You arrive to first. However, Your exact schedule will be based on Your unique driving habits. Oil lubricates moving components in the engine while also helping to keep it cool. It prevents corrosion and enhances performance, as well, so You never want to allows this fluid to get low or old. The average cost to change the oil in the 2013 Passat TDI is $130 to $160, including labor.

It does not have to be VW 507 00. So If the diesel fuel used meets EN 590 specification then VW 504 00 can also be used. This info is taken from my 2013 owners manual.
