Slipping, d***y transmission filters, and jerking or shuddering while accelerating are some of the typical problems found with the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 transmission. Flushing the transmission fluid every 60,000 miles is advised to keep the transmission working and running efficiently. In this Chevy truck model, transmission issues are typically uncommon, but when going to higher mileage and extensive use, there can be problems that can occur. If You have any transmission trouble, such as sliding, shuddering, or jerking, make sure to take it to a repair shop as soon as possible to prevent any significant transmission damage while accelerating. Transmission is an expensive replacement so its best to always inspect it and flush the fluid every 60,000 miles.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 starts to rev while driving and jerking between low gears. Noise like a high pitched whirring noise. Pulled out of my driveway onto a busy road and nothing. Stopped dead in the middle of the road. Luckily, two police officers were right there, they pulled up behind me and pushed my car off the busy road. Called for tow to take to transmission shop becuase couldn't get in any gears. Hour later, I go to get stuff out of truck, start it for grins and giggles, and it drove. About three quarters of a mile later, died. I was able to coax it back to my home that way, and get it towed. Why isn't there a recall? Who does one contact about this?

My son in law and I both have a 2016 Silverado. My transmission went out at 89000. His 72000i. So if you have that year Sell it. Both were because of vaulty torque Converter. It goes out and the tiny pieces Destroy the pump. Game over.

My 2016 chev silverado LT to jerk a little after I put gas in it. Six days later while driving it. It wouldn't pull, but 15 minutes later it would move.Did a diagnostic check it stated pressure control solenoid and transmission control module were the problem. But it only has 103,299 mileage on it. There needs to be a recall on the this truck

I own a 2016 Chevy Silverado 4X4 with the 5.3L Engine and the 6L80 6-Speed automatic transmission. At 91K miles, the transmission failed. After reviewing the error codes from the trucks computer, it was determined to have a "hard fail" of the high pressure solenoid #3. The 2016 6L80 doesn't accommodate for the individual replacement of solenoids like the prior years did. You now have to replace the TCM (which houses all of the solenoids) at an at cost expense to me of $546.00 plus filter, fluid, gaskets etc. Now, at the present moment in time, my 2016 Silverado leaves me looking for a ride again( at 116,000 miles), exhibiting the same system symptoms as before. I believe that a Class Action Lawsuit against GM would be in accordance at this time. I've personally owned Chevy, Ford and Dodge 4X4 pickups. Between the three, the 6L80 transmission issues incurred in my 2016 Silverado are the worst, hands down. The transmission will fail, without any whatsoever indications or provocation. Leaving you looking for a ride (night or day. Warm or cold) to the nearest service center(provided that they're open at the time of your demise. The 6L80 Transmission issues have been substantiated by an historical volume of Silverado owners and at a very costly and most inconvenient expense. I believe that it's time for General Motors to settle up for the almost guaranteed failure of the poorly designed 6L80 Transmission that has bared so many unsuspecting consumers. Lets face it folks, the 6L80 transmission is a big piece of #$%&^and it's high time for General Motors to admit to the engineering disaster and reimburse the faithful and loyal purchasers of the Chevy Silverado (that utilize the 6L80 transmission) for all of the expenses that they have incurred due to this.

The common transmission problems in a 2016 chevy silverado 1500 series are related to the transmission shifting rough in gears.

My Silverado 1500 LT transmission went completely out with no prior warning, no slipping, shuttering nothing. Went to leave one day it wouldn't move at all. Tried all gears and it just wouldn't pull . It's got 184K, had the transmissionon serviced once.

2016, Silverado 4x4, 133,000 miles. The truck started shuddering and shifted hard. It then quit pulling. I pulled the pan and had metal shavings in the pan. I replaced the filter and the oil and cleaned everything as good as i could, and the truck now shifts again, but do not know how long that will last. I told the dealer shortly after I bought the truck that it shifted hard and they blew me off. This model needs recalled.

My 2016 chevy silverado just reach the 89000. Out of nowhere my transmission started slipping and wouldn't go into gear. I took it to a shop and was told it would need to be rebuild.4400 is what I paid to get the transmission rebuild. I was told by the transmission specialist that the fault is the way the transmission was designed.

2016 Silverado LT Z71 4x4 96,x*x Complete transmission failure due to torque converter shredding into pieces. I will say that Chevrolet screwed us!! They have a thermostat on the transmission cooling line that does not allow the coolant to the transmission until it rises to like 190* degrees which seems to be what ends up making the torque converter fail. All the owners I know that have deleted the thermostat before failure have not had any issues. I replaced my transmission which was running 185-200 degrees on OEM tranny is now running a max of 145 with new tranny and No Thermostat! I hope this may save some of you some issues in the future. Because Chevrolet wouldn’t make this right I don’t think I’ll be a Chevrolet guy anymore

56,000 miles, trans started failing on a trip from DFW to AUS. Started slipping about 50miles north of Austin. Had it towed & shop said torque converter and a bunch of other stuff to have it rebuilt. $6k in the hole, on top of having to fly back home, then fly down to AUS to pick it up.

2016 Silverado driving fine on my way home from work. Took normal route and was driving with traffic between 35-45mph. Turned into my neighborhood, stopped at a stop sign, proceeded and as soon as the truck went into 3rd gear, it started slipping and jerking. Same thing was happening in 4th gear. No issues with 1st or 2nd gear at all. Truck has 87,000 miles on it and I had my transmission serviced at 40,000 miles and 79,000 miles. No warnings, no codes, nothing. I suspect it is beginning to grenade. I am strict on the maintenance on this truck and have had it since brand new with 3 miles on the clock. Has been a great truck until now. I am thoroughly disappointed. Based on all these comments, I’m going to fix the transmission and sell the truck and buy a used Toyota Tundra. Been a Chevy truck guy all my life but never again.

2016 Chevy Silverado LT Z71. At 87k miles the transmission starts slipping. A week later it won’t go into drive or reverse. This truck has only been serviced by GM of Denison, Tx. How in the world with so many problems is there not a recall? I’m a blue collar worker with one vehicle. What am I supposed to do now? It’s Toyotas for this man from here on out.

Off onto my annual trip with a 2016 Z71 with 78000 miles. Made the turn onto the final 2 miles of the 560 mile trip. Pulled out of the turn and accelerated to see the RPMs climb with no response. Thanks to a hunting buddy with a tow strap and the standard front bumper tow hook, I made it to the Cabin. Now, I sit here stuck in the middle of now where, dead in the water. There goes the hunting, checkbook and fun. Complete disaster!!!

I own a 2016 Chevy Silverado High Country. At 135K transmission started slipping between 1st and second gear. Engine light is on. My mechanic tells me it's a tranny temperature sensor which is located in the transmission control module. He's trying to find out if he can replace it or if I have to take it to the dealer and pay way too much!

2016 Chevy Silverado 141,000mi just got the truck 6 months ago and has been shuddering and jerking the whole time but continues to get worse. I have a 2016 Silverado with 101000 miles. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Transmission is not slipping, jerking or sputtering. However, complete lack of power when leaving a light, Engine RPM,s are not racing however the dealership is trying tell me that it may need transmission work. BS OR NOT I NEED THE REAL STORY. This may be my last dealings with General Motors, what a shame that GM won’t step up.

My 2016 silverado has been having same problems as described here by others at 128000. Needs new torque convertor, gaskets and seals. The dealership gave an estimate of 2300ish w part on back order and no idea it would be in. I called a reputable transmission shop and spoke w a tech who has worked there over 20 years. The tech immediately knew what i was talking about and said they do “so many” of them he has the diagnostic and cure memorised. It sounds like GM needs to own up and be held accountable for this notorious flaw.
