As the driver of a Volkswagen Golf GTE, You may be experiencing problems with charging up Your vehicle. If You plug it in and nothing happens, a couple of things could be wrong. First, You could be suffering from bad wiring. Check all the wiring to ensure there is no wear and tear, breaking, or more commonly, a loose connection that needs to be fixed. Replacing the wiring can cost You between $40 and $80 on average. You could also have a problem with the battery control module within Your vehicle. If it is faulty, it will need to be replaced. This can cost You between $102 and $240, on average.

My GTE stopped charging when the locking mechanism locking the charger in place failed.

VW Golf GTE charging problems are usually caused by wiring problems and battery control module problems.

Encounter similar issues of it only half filling or showing a max of 21ml charge after20+ hrs but dropping to show I've only got 14mls within seconds of pushing the power button. Alan Day dealers attribute it to "ambient temperature, how you drive the car, what extras you have turned on (led lights that use about 2 amps) etc.", instead of acknowledgement that there's a vehicle design issue. Also Pod updates may berequired to your home plug.
