Traction control on the Toyota Corolla increases stability on the road when conditions are slippery or wet. It does this by moving power from the engine to the wheels. However, if Your car is stuck in a snow drift or deep mud, it is advisable to turn this feature off to maximize the engine's torque and power. To do this locate the "TRAC" button on the upper right portion of the Corolla's steering wheel. It is usually inscribed with two road line symbols. Press to switch traction control off. The TRAC light will illuminate until the button is pressed again and the system is turned on. To turn off VSC or "Vehicle Stability Control" as well, depress the TRAC button for more than 3 seconds and both systems will be disabled and both indicator lights will illuminate.
