In order to put the Mercedes Benz CLA 250 into neutral, You'll need to first remove the push button starter. This can be done by gently pulling on the button apparatus, being careful not to damage the plastic in the process. Then, You'll need to put Your key into the ignition. Turn it to the "ON" position. Fully depress the brake, and then You'll be able to shift into neutral. If You have an older model of the CLA 250 without a push button start, the process is much simpler. You'll just need to have a key in the ignition, depress the brake, and use the shifter. If this isn't working for You, You may have an issue with Your transmission or Your neutral safety switch.
