In general You an expect a Jeep Grand Cherokee to last over 150,000 miles with regular maintenance done on them. It could last even longer if You make sure to address some of the other issues as they arise with the engine. The most important thing in making Your car last a long time is getting the maintenance done. Scheduled maintenance is designed to be done to protect the components in Your engine and transmission from wear and tear as the vehicle runs. Standard maintenance is also a good time for a mechanic to take a look at the car and make sure nothing else is wrong. It is always easier and more affordable to address small problems as they come up compared to repairing big problems further down the road.

Currently, I'm driving a 1998 Grand Cherokee that has over 272300 miles on it. The engine runs smoothly, but the transmission slips we've now and then. Regular oil changes every 3500 miles, using quality oil and filter. And taking it easy on the skinny pedal will make the 4.0 inline 6 last forever.
