On the 2014 Ford F-150 there is not any way for an owner to safely check the transmission fluid. There is a check valve that is located on the side of the transmission fluid pan, but that is hard to access and if You release it too much You may need to refill it. Ford has decided that it is better to let mechanics and dealerships check the transmission fluid to make sure that it is full and free from signs of debris. Although this is a departure from the traditional transmission dipstick it is not all bad. Transmissions have gotten much better in recent years and they do not need to be serviced as often as they did in the past, so You shouldn't have to worry much about the fluid.

To check the transmission fluid on a 2014 ford f150 you need to: open the hood. Remove dipstick. Check level. Insert dipstick and pull it out to determine level.
