In 2018, Mercedes-Benz began fitting the GLC-Class with head units capable of Apple CarPlay functionality, so this is the first model year of the GLC that has it. It continues up until present. Some other noteworthy Mercedes vehicles that offer CarPlay functionality are the 2016-2020 A-Class, B-Class, CLA-Class, CLS-Class, E-Class, GLA-Class, and GLE-Class, the 2017-2020 E-Class, GLS-Class, and SL-Class, the 2018-2020 S-Class, and the 2019-2020 C-Class. While it may seem trivial, CarPlay is touted as an important safety feature. Apple claims that their user-friendly interface is able to keep eyes off of phones and on the road, thus reducing the chances of automotive accidents. So if You're already entrenched in Apple's ecosystem, it's wise to take full advantage if this is offered on Your car. In the case of the 2018 GLC, it is.

Yes, the 2018 Mercedes GLC has Apple CarPlay but only as package option. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto aren't standard in the 2018 GLC class, even for the AWD GLC 300. The SmartPhone Integration package is required to connect your smartphone to the system. Though Apple CarPlay is technically available, most vehicles, particularly luxury vehicles, provide this connectivity direct from the factory.
