The 2017 Chevy Malibu does come with a CD player. However, this is a format we are seeing less and less of. Starting around 2016, many car makers started looking into alternative options for in-car entertainment. CD as a music storage format is not as common and mainstream as it was in the 2000s. For this reason, it is amounting to a bit of redundancy on the dartboard of more modern cars, since many owners do not use them. New technology like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto seem to be takeng the place of the once loved in-car CD player. With these new options, users will have to stream content from their devices, which they previously stored, or from a live online streaming service, like Spotify. Or even YouTube.

The CD player has become more and more scarce as the demand for newer technology has skyrocketed. In the Malibu, there is a balance of new and older technology. CD players are standard for all trim levels however, the base trim has no aux port. Be aware of this if you are buying a used Malibu.
