There is an active recall on the 2013 Ford Escape or the water pump. The pump is known to fail over time and that can cause leaks to develop. When these leaks happen it can drip hot coolant onto hot components and that increases the risk for fire. Manufacturers issue recalls when they determine that a certain number of components have failed. That is what has happened with the Escape engine here. If You want to confirm Your SUV is included in the recall You can contact a Ford dealership with Your VIN. If it is part of the recall You can take it in to a dealership and they will replace the water pump for free.

Where did you learn of this recall?? , I called the Ford Dealer today, , Ford has issued a TSB, and hasn’t you made this a covered warranty repair yet , as if March 30th 2024, for the 1.6 Eco Boost, according to Ford, It but it may be covered if Ford decides too.

Ford also told me that my car doesn't fall under any recall for the water pump. Mine went out on the way home Monday and stranded me for over an hour
