If You're wondering whether the 2003 Ford Focus has a timing belt or a timing chain, You've arrived at Your destination. The Ford Focus for this year comes equipped with a timing belt. If You were curious to know because You need to replace the belt, then I can help You with some information. To replace the timing belt on this vehicle, You're looking at spending around $500 including parts and labor. The cost of labor will depend on the area You want to get the repair in and the shop You want to visit.

They all have timing belts. The aluminum belt cover tricks people into thinking it has a timing chain. SPI and regular Zetec engines are non-interference, while the SVT Zetec is an interference engine.
