The 2016 Ford Escape works very well with fully synthetic oils, as well as semi-synthetic oils. It comes in three variants. The 1.6L engine holds up to 4.3 quarts of motor oil, while both the 2.5L and 2.0L engines take up to 5.7 quarts of oil. Ford recommends using A5w-20 fully synthetic oil for best results. This is because fully synthetic oils offer a greater degree of protection to Your engine, while also improving fuel efficiency and overall longevity of the vehicle. With the 2016 Escape, its best to change both the oil as well as the oil filter once every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.

Pat is both right and wrong. The recommended oil for a 2016 Ford Escape with the 1.6L EcoBoost and 2.5L I-4 engines IS 5w20 synthetic blend (at least). The recommended oil for the 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 engine is 5w30 synthetic blend. The 1.6L does hold 4.3 quarts and the 2.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost both hold 5.7 qts.

I have a 2016 Escape with the 2.0l ecoboost and the recommended oil is 5w30 at 5.7 quarts. I use full synthetic Pennzoil Ultra Platinum every 5k miles.

Also Note: Ford only recommends and will put synthetic blend in this vehicle (1.6 or 2.0). Though many shops recommend full synthetic.

The recommended oil type for 2016 Ford Escape is 5W-20 fully synthetic oil. The oil capacity varies by engine type. The 1.6L 1-4 engine can hold 4.3 quarts of oil, 2.5L I-4 engine and 2.0-L EcoBoost I-4 both hold 5.7 quarts of oil.

This answer is wrong. For all ecoboost engines you use 5W-30.

The 2.0 L is 5W30, the 1.6 L 5W20. Doing a check on the Valvolene site shows this difference between the two. I looked under my hood, and it distinctly says 1.6 L and 5W20.

The 2.0L I4 EcoBoost in a 2016 Ford Escape uses 5w-30 weight oil and takes 5.7 quarts. Literally staring at the oil cap and just did the oil change on one. Definitive answer at least for the 2.0L EcoBoost engine.

I agree with all the sensible people. Owners manual states proper viscosity, either synthetic blend or synthetic.

The manual lists 4.3 qts but that is imperial quarts. The actual capacity as stated by the dealers is 5.2 US qts. 4.3 imperial equals 5.2 US.
