Problems with the 2007 Focus are fairly serious including worn-out alternators, issues with the accelerator pedal, and the transmission not shifting.
Alternator failures are an extremely common complaint from owners happening every 60,000 miles. The alternator simply wears out faster than other cars, and costs around $450 to replace.
A stuck accelerator pedal is mentioned by owners within the first 20,000 miles. The throttle body located on the engine gets stuck often, and a replacement is about $400, but it can cause unintended acceleration and is dangerous.
Transmission shifting issues show up on a lot of Focuses in the first 60,000 miles. Problems shifting between gears are usually a sign of an issue with the gears. Some owners rebuild the transmission costing about $2,500, while others replace it for nearly $4,000.

How Long Will the 2007 Ford Focus Last?
A properly maintained 2007 Focus will last around 150,000 miles, which is half as long as a top rated competitor like the Toyota Corolla. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to rivals, at $333 per year, according to Repair Pal’s data.
Most 2007 Focuses will have over 100,000 miles so prospective buyers should be prepared to replace air conditioning lines for $450, the water pump costing $500, and the wheel hub which costs $250.
No problems, sensors all work and all the mechanical parts of the motor are great. It does not overheat or leak any fluids. The engine does not bough down when accelerating to 70 mph on the interstate and in town driving it does amazing too, to be able to stay at a stop light or traffic for a bit.
Yes it is reliable. No it does not have any problems. It does from time to time, like normal wear and tear, but you will get that with any car. For being an old car, I have kept it up and never have to worry about it stalling out or breaking down.
Yes it is reliable and does not have any problems. No major repairs, just mostly routine maintenance things.
The ford focus is absolutely reliable, I have kept up on oil changes and car maintenance and we have had no car issues at all.
No major problems that I have noticed. It is sturdy and holds up well for a smaller car. The radio was the first thing to go for me.
This car is sometimes reliable. Many things do not function in the car, particularly the a/c control unit.
No problems detected as of this date. It is reliable in the extreme cold we have in this state. We did have to replace the original battery about six months. The service manager has offered to buy it when we are ready to trade in for another.
I felt safe to travel when it was newer, but I will not trust driving more than 30 miles out of the town I reside in. I can not speak for everyone, but I am having more issues with it as it gets older. It is almost not worth putting more work into, because of the retail value being so low. The bill from the mechanic seems to be more than what the car is worth.

What Colors Does the Focus Come In?
How Big Is the Focus?
The 2007 Focus is an average sized compact car available as a 2-door wagon, 4-door wagon, or 4-door sedan. It’s similar in size to the VW GTI and Subaru Impreza. Passenger room is good for a compact car in all 4-door models, but the 2-door version is cramped.
Cargo space is good for a small car, with a 14.8 cubic foot trunk in the sedan. There’s even more room in the hatchbacks with 35.6 in the wagon, and a maximum of 73.7 with the seats folded flat.
How Does the Focus Compare to the Competition?
The Ford Fusion is another rival from Ford, which costs about $1,000 more. Passenger room and interior materials are both better in the Fusion, but the Focus is more responsive to drive. We recommend the Fusion since it’s only slightly more expensive and offers better reliability.
The Mazda3 is another compact car which costs about $1,000 more. Performance and quality are both better in the Mazda, but the Focus has a bit more room in the hatchback. We recommend the Mazda3 since it’s more reliable and has fewer owner complaints.
Do Owners Recommend the Ford Focus?
Yes, the engine is holding up great for it being 12 years old. It gets great gas mileage. The trunk is nice and roomy for storage. The front and back seats are comfortable. The body of the car has no rust and nothing is falling off from wear and tear.
Yes, it is reliable and easy on gas. It takes about $30 to fill up the whole tank! It is gray in color and has a lot of power for such a little car.
Yes, it has been a reliable vehicle and gets good gas mileage. The body has also held up very well. Overall a good car.
Yes the ford focus a very good vehicle. Its durable, low maintenance, safe and comfortable to drive my family around in.
Yes it is reliable and has lasted a long time for me. It is small but not terrible in snow. Spacious for a smaller car also.
Usually, yes. I bought my vehicle second hand with problems I was not aware of. I am under the impression that ford, if well taken care of, is usually a good brand.
This vehicle has given us trouble free driving for 12 years, except for routine checkups and tires we have had no additional expense. I could not ask for a better vehicle.
My opinion of the ford focus is overall decent. I have been driving this car for close to 13 years. It has over 150,000 miles on it and because of that I have occasional trips to the mechanic, which is expected with any vehicle of this many years and miles. However, I am not fond of it cosmetic wise. The slightest touch seems to dent the exterior, and both rearview mirrors have fallen off without cause. It is just a matter of timing and finances before I say goodbye to this vehicle. It is true to say that it will not be missed.
