My Elantra is the best car that I have owned. I love the low maintenance.
My car has given me no problems. It is great on gas and does not use a lot of oil, although I change the oil every 3,000 miles. I have not had to change the battery as yet, but I have changed the tires because of my habit of changing them every 12 months. The air works great, the heat works good. The inside is still pristine and I have had no engine problems to date. I like the trunk space as well as the space inside the car.
accountCircle Daina M
I really like how it scans the car to let me know if something is wrong with it.
No complaints. I am loving the back up camera and the push button start. I also love if it is super hot I can remote start

Accommodations and performance are legit.
The back up camera on this car is perfect. The seat warmers work very quickly and really heat up. The performance on this car is fantastic and handles really well. The warranty that Hyundai has is also fantastic and makes me really believe in this car and trust it. I love this car.
accountCircle Ashley J
Love the sunroof and heated seats the most.
I really love my car. I have heated seats and a sunroof. It is comfortable and the perfect size for what I currently need it for. I love the large trunk. It gets standard gas mileage, which is nice. I really like the apple play feature in the car that I can use to listen to music and/or for navigation. The Bluetooth is easy to connect to. The heat and ac work well in the car. I wish I didn't have cloth seats because they stain so easily.

Gray color on the outside with black interiors.
Runs beautifully sound system is amazing very comfortable and spacious. This car is very reliable and potent. I absolutely love it. Best car I have ever had. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. I actually already have. The car is amazing.

Fuel efficient... Amazing! Sleek!
This vehicle is incredibly efficient, and fuel efficient. I have used it to drive back and forth to school (a 3 hour drive on highways) and it has been incredible. It also has a great sound system and good breaks. The visibility outside the back is also great. I strongly recommend it as a first car (I have it as my first car and it is great!).

One of the most important things to know about my car is how smooth the drive is and about the big, spacious trunk.
My car has a beautiful and comfortable interior, a beautiful and stylish exterior. It is very reliable and comfortable! It has a back up camera, blind spot alert, Bluetooth, and more. I have not had any problems with it! I love it!

Hyundai Elantra sport is awesome.
It is a very reliable car. I love the red trim inside. Speaker system sounds great. It has great gas mileage. Turbo engine is fun to drive. There is a lot of room in the backseat for passengers with the front people having plenty of legroom. Hyundai is an awesome company to deal with.

Hyundai Elantra disaster!!
A lot of engine issues with this model. As soon as I got it after two months the ignition coils went bad. Occasionally the car shakes and the engine makes weird noises. Also, a lot of tire problems. The tires for this model are no good. I lease and they refuse to take care of certain problems and expect me to pay out of pocket for them.

Sport mode- easy to pass people at a red light.
Not modern enough, lights do not come on automatically, I can only connect my phone thru Bluetooth,I like a car with my link. Bad in the rain and snow. Small,I would like a bigger car like the Chevy Malibu. The plus side to the car is sport mode and that makes it fast.

Awful Car
I had a 2016 and now a 2018, both with problems. I have a 2018 Elantra GT hatchback. After about 6000 Kms started running rough in eco mode and vibrating when excelerating I was told by the dealership just not to use that mode. They reset all the sensors two weeks ago and it ran fine until two days ago now doing the same thing. My passenger seat belt sensor keeps going off which they have reset too. My struts squeak again after they say it was just some dirt. I would never buy another Hyundai again. My Vibe was way better on mpg. Besides cosmetic features this car is bad purchase.

Transmission issues without recall
The cars transmission will fail within 150km then they won't fix it for free even though the transmission shouldn't have these issues so early in the cars life. Less then 3 years only and already need to replace it at 130km

Don’t buy in white
Don’t buy the white color Code W8 It peels away on hood and roof The car was only one year old They won’t warranty after certain miles I didn’t realize it only happens on that color I’m very happy with the car besides that
accountCircle Ashley K
It is actually a very fast car.
Have issues with transmission, and engine rattles when stepping on pedal. It has a very hard shift. The hood latch isn't very secure and tight. The engine light has always been on since day 1. We had issues with the axle after 1 small fender bender. A lot of plastic parts on the inside.
accountCircle Dee S
The vehicle could be better.
Issues with transmission. There's no dipstick to check the transmission fluid. Smells coming from the vents smelling like petroleum. Changing the cabin filter does not help. Has good gas mileage. Has a lot of space. The earlier years were better with the vehicle.

What Do Critics Say About the Hyundai Elantra?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2018 Hyundai Elantra offers excellent fuel economy and space, with average owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the 2018 Elantra at 4.1/5, praising the excellent technology features, but doesn’t like the slow shifts from the seven-speed transmission.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Elantra a 4.2/5, enjoying the luxurious interior, but owners don’t like the limited legroom in the rear seats.

What Common Problems Does the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Have?

Common problems found on the 2018 Hyundai Elantra include excessive noise from the engine, the seven-speed transmission shifting poorly, as well as peeling paint. Overall, these problems are similar to other compact cars, leading to average repair costs as the Elantra ages.

Excessive noise from the engine is the most widespread complaint on the 2018 Hyundai Elantra, at roughly 7,000 miles. Usually the problem is caused by the engine misfiring. There is a software update for the ECU which reduces the number of misfires. Most Hyundai dealerships will install the software update for free, while others may charge up to around $50.

The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission shifting poorly has also been mentioned by some owners at around 15,000 miles. The dual-clutch transmission is more complex than a traditional automatic, which leads to it shifting harder between gears. There are also transmission software updates available from Hyundai which smooth out the shifting performance.

Peeling paint also shows up on some Hyundai Elantra models at around 50,000 miles. Paint which is not properly cared for and left out in direct sunlight will start to fail. If there are any failure spots, the only way to fix the issue is to repaint the affected areas, costing around $1,000 per panel.

There are no recalls on the 2018 Hyundai Elantra, which means none of the issues have been severe enough in Hyundai’s opinion to issue a recall to change out any parts.

How Long Will the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Last?

A well-maintained 2018 Hyundai Elantra can last around 250,000 miles, which is only slightly less than the top-rated Toyota Corolla. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other compact cars, at $420 per year, according to data provided by Repair Pal.

As a 2018 Hyundai Elantra reaches 100,000 miles owners should be prepared to replace the blower motor resistor for $125, oil pump costing $900, as well as the transmission mounts which cost $365.

Yes, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra is a good value since it’s cheaper than many other compact cars. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $13,900 to $17,475, making it cheaper than a Honda Civic or Mazda3. When new, the price range was $16,950 to $24,350. The Hyundai Sonata is a larger sedan offered by Hyundai which costs around $2,000 more. Passenger room is much better in the Hyundai Sonata, while the Hyundai Elantra is sportier to drive. We recommend the Hyundai Elantra since there are more problems reported with the Hyundai Sonata.

We recommend the Honda Civic since the ownership costs are lower and you get more tech for your money.

My 2018 Hyundai Elantra is honestly amazing. The seats are extremely comfortable, my iPhone can connect via Bluetooth and display my apps as well as navigation. It is also extremely safe as it warns you with a small beep when your changing lanes to let you know if someone is in your blind spot. It also has a backup camera that makes a beeping if someone is in range of the cameras view. It also helps you to align your car when reversing as when you turn the wheel, the guidelines on the backup camera move to. Overall it is an amazing car and I would highly recommend it!

The Elantra plus and minuses.
Thee car is too low to the ground in the front. Noisy while driving. Car is uncomfortable when my 6ft son in law drives but for me it's fine as I m smaller. It's good for long trips as the mileage on the highway is very good sometimes as much as 50 mp gallon.

Hyundai Elantra is by far the best vehicle for commuters.
This vehicle is one I picked after a lot of research, and I do not regret my purchase at all. The mpg is exactly what I expected to get on the Hwy, and better than I expected in the city, averaging 27-30 mpg around town. It is comfortable for long trips, and I love the trunk space. Also, this model comes with a spare tire, which saved me once. The heated seats and Bluetooth are also a bonus.

2018 Hyundai pearl white Elantra (basic model).
As far as problems, they are none that have been alarming so far. However, a few days after I purchased the vehicle, the engine shut down and had to be replaced which was unfortunate. With that said, the warranty covered the towing and replacing the engine as well as provided a compensation. The vehicles performance is great. Smooth driving with great mpg. The steering wheel is comfortable to maneuver and seats are comfortable. With this particular model, there is no rear camera which could come in handy.

2018 Hyundai Elantra sport - 10/10 in my book.
This vehicle has super great power and performance. Out of the trims, I definitely prefer sport, for both the sports seats and wheels. I do not have any complaints other than the sound system. Wish the upgraded systems were standard. Leather seats and pano-like sunroofs are both pluses.

Great features amazing value. Sunroof, heated seats, keyless entry all standard.
I got the value edition and I love it because it has a ton of features that other models of the same price and efficiency do not have. It has heated seats, a sunroof, electric windows, keyless entry and start and a great radio console. Also because of the fob, I can never lock my keys inside my car. It has eco, regular, and sport mode. At eco mode on the highway, I can get 38 mpg, and city about 31. Sport mode is nice for those times you want to zoom around the slow drivers on the highway.

A good thing in a small package.
I love my Elantra gt hatchback. I bought it to replace a Hyundai sonata that I loved, but is 13 yrs old. I wanted a vehicle in which I could transport small furniture to my new home. I love the fact that the back seats fold down to accommodate large.Boxes, but wish it was a little bigger. For a small car, the Elantra has a lot of pep and driving on a highway I often do not realize how fast I am going. It has a lot of safety features, gets good gas mileage, and has better visibility than most cars. I decided to stick with the Hyundai brand based on the reliability of 2 sonatas that have been owned by my family for over 10 years with minimal problems.
accountCircle Aizeaah S on June 5, 2021
An alright car for city driving.
Pros: the vehicle has a lot of legroom and customizability for the driver's seat positioning. It also has a sizable trunk and seats that fold completely down in the back for more space. The Bluetooth connects really easily and the media player options are very easy to understand. The bass pumps loudly if you are looking for something to blast tunes with. The seats are pretty stain resistant and clean off easily. Even cat pee is easy to completely remove. The heated air heats up fast and the cool air gets really chilly. Cons: there is a frame behind the foldable seats that is not removable. This makes it very difficult to fit wide objects into the trunk. The hatchback also does not leave a large enough space for anything more than a large suitcase. The media player cannot project phone input without a third party app. The interior plastic is prone to dust. The bumpers are very delicate and stick down very low. I accidentally clipped a curb and my bumper had a crack going so far up it that I was worried the headlight would fall out. The fan for the temperature controls either blasts hard, or barely pumps out anything at all. Instead of going from 1-2-3-4 it feels like it only goes 1-4.

Hyundai Elantra 2018 car horn.
The car is very compact so it helps getting into tight spaces. The car is also very quiet which I like. The seats are easy to clean and the 2018 model still feels fresh and new. The car horn is a bit quiet so when I lock the car sometimes I have to do it multiple times so I can make sure I hear it close.

Dislike and like about my car.
I do not have any problems with my car. The gas only take 20 to fill, it drives smooth to me, had it for about 2 years now and only thing I needed for it is a oil change nothing as that serious. I would say it is not comfortable for long trips unless you laying in the back.

Reasonably priced and good at It's' job!
My primary use for driving the car is to commute to school and work from home. This car does a really great job at doing what it is supposed to do. I like that this car has a rearview camera, side sensors, and a touch screen display that includes apple play. I drove a Mercedes for about 3 years prior to driving the Hyundai and I have told multiple people that the features on my Hyundai are much better than the features I had on my Mercedes for a more reasonable cost.

2018 Hyundai Elantra review.
The 2018 Hyundai Elantra finishes in the middle of our compact car rankings. It is fuel-efficient, with plenty of features and a decent amount of cargo space, but it lacks some of the panache and athleticism of higher-ranked rivals.Pros & cons. Good gas mileage. Lots of available features. Above-average cargo capacity. Unimpressive engines. Lower safety scores than many competitors.

Excellent gas mileage! Great for traveling.
It has excellent gas mileage, a full tank usually provides about 400 miles. The eco/sport functionality really helps with getting the most out of your tank if you use eco in residential areas and sport on highways. In sport mode it can accelerate very quickly and maneuvers easily through traffic. This makes it a great car for cruising and traveling long distances. It does include apple CarPlay which is great functionality to have as it integrates GPS, iTunes music and Spotify so you can have full access on the touch screen dashboard.

The best feature of all is the cruise control and eco mode.
This vehicle is amazing it has a push start and the key can detect when the battery goes dead by a little red flashing light. My car kind of looks small but on the inside it is very spacious. The only thing I don't like about my car is the tiny touchscreen for the radio. The car goes very fast and can gain speed at an instant. If you have a small family I would highly recommend but I wouldn't recommend for somebody with a large family.

Vehicle review: Hyundai Elantra.
I bought my vehicle about three years ago. I have not had any major issues with my vehicle during that time. I take the vehicle in for regular maintenance as recommended. I did not drive much when I first bought my vehicle, but then my commute increased. My vehicle was reliable, comfortable, and got good gas mileage during these long commutes. My vehicle can get up to 50 miles/gallon on the highway. The car is small, but feels roomy and comfortable. The vehicle is safe and allows me to use my telephone hands-free. I would recommend my vehicle to anyone looking for a reliable vehicle for a good price.

Great performance. Just not big enough for my needs. Would be a great car for someone with no children or 1 child. 2 children in sports creates a huge space issue. Overall performance is amazing. Gas mileage is superb. Very comfortable to drive. A tad noisy on the interstate but otherwise a very enjoyable car to drive.

Great family size car with lots of features.
The problems is that the car does not have a lot of power when you try to speed us, but it does have a lot of interior feature. For example, my favorite thing about the car is the CarPlay. You can use an apple or android and it works with no issues. I got the car for a great deal at Glendora and it comes with free oil change for the first three years. The seat is comforting and the exterior features are fine as well.

Great transport and storage!
I haven't had any problems with my car. The only feedback I'd really like to give is that the infotainment system does not connect to my phone for driving directions unless I use a cable. I also wish that the seats were more easily adjustable. I really like the hatchback because it allows for a lot of transport but the vehicle overall is still more like a sedan than a SUV or minivan. The gas mileage is also very good.

I love it. The seat warmers are the best! I love how it handles. I like the different modes to drive in. It gets good gas mileage. I let other people drive it in my family because it is so reliable. The trunk space is a decent size. The back seat has cup holders!

Elantras are the best car to buy.
I love my car so much! It is the first car I have ever bought from an actual car lot. The car runs great very smooth and feels very comfortable inside. It also feels bigger than it looks witch is wonderful. I love my backup camera and the feature that lets me put the car into eco and sport. I do not like that it does not have the little light when I put my mirror down through. Other than that I feel the car is perfect.

Has some problems, but overall good car.
Every time the temperature drops below 65, my tires always are low on pressure. This has not happened with other cars I have had (other makes, not Hyundai). Also, one of my key batteries died, which has not happened with previous cars. Other than that, it is a good car and I have a lot for the price I paid.

This car is great for commuters who are looking to save on money.
This is my second Hyundai that I have bought the first was a 2007 sonata which I still have and had only regular maintenance to pay for. This is why I bought my Hyundai Elantra, it is great on gas, not mechanical issues. It rides nice, seats in the are very comfortable. It also has a lot of room for a little car. If you keep it in eco mode, the car will pay for it is self. Love Hyundai!

Reliable, easy upkeep car with the necessary bells and whistles.
I enjoy the back up camera and side sensors as it helps me to parallel park in the city. There is also Bluetooth and touch screen. There are heated seats and driver and copilot can control different temperatures. There is also a sunroof which I enjoy. The backseat is roomy for my big dog.

2018 Elantra bought used for $12k.
I like my Elantra quite a bit. It gets good gas mileage and has a nice smooth ride. The car comes with a lot of features I like including a sunroof, tinted windows, and a touch screen display that is very easy to use. The used car had some very minor cosmetic issues that I was able to solve with little expense. The trunk is huge.

My cute little red Hyundai.
It is comfortable and roomy enough for myself. There is only me who uses it or rides in it, so I cannot speak to what it would be like for a family or couple. The glare from the windshield is very distracting. The road noise is not bad. The doors close easily. The air conditioner takes a while to cool off, and, due to the amount of heat coming from the windshield, it is hard to keep it cool. The heater works well. The GPS works well. I wish that it had a CD player.

It shares a mechanical base with the Kia forte, its engine is a four cylinder.
My Hyundai Elantra gives me very good safety and comfort, it is very spacious and so far I have not had technical problems, I am very happy to have it I recommend it and have taken several long trips and it responds without problem it has very good air conditioning, I cannot complain about it, they tell me they are a bit bad because of the front bearings, but it has not been my experience.

Fuel efficient, reliable, spacious, and comfortable.
I like that it zippy fast, smaller pair to my previous car, it can accelerate pretty fast. What I do not like about it is it has a crappy stereo system and sometimes the engine will over rev and not takeoff. Other than that I like it because it is good on gas and pretty reliable.

Elantra headache, enough said.
The main problem I have with my car is winter driving. The car does not do well on wet roads. Hyundai should consider making all wheel drive sedans. Outside of that, I have really enjoyed owning my Elantra. If it weren't for the poor performance on wet roads, I would recommend it to others.

Super comfortable, affordable. Great gas mileage. Compact.
I absolutely love this car! I has Bluetooth, USB, and aux. The front two seat have seat heaters. It has navigation as well as CarPlay. The gas mileage is great. I get about 31-36 miles per gallon. The only thing that I hate is that there is no back window wiper on the car which makes it difficult to see out my back mirror when it is raining. However, I love how compact the car is because I live in the city and have to parallel park everywhere.

Reliable, good gas mileage.
Drives smooth, easy steering. The gas mileage is amazing (30 miles to the gallon normally). The sound system is great and clear. The only negative thing I found about the car is the rusting around the bottom and after a year of driving the acceleration is a little harder.

Good value for a sporty-looking sedan.
Sleek body style and also reliable so far (i have had it for about three years). Love the android auto feature and the large screen in the console. The wheels add a sporty look and there is ample space on the inside considering it is a small sedan. Good value.

Hyundai Elantra black car.
No major issues. Great on gas, even on the highway or in town. Great features plus it is apple friendly. Nice and spacious car. Great family car. Good car for the price. Minimum maintenance. Bluetooth ready. Excellent car for panda, youtube, ete. Drive safe feature. Great back up camera plus alerts if a vehicle is too close.

2018 manual insights to know.
No major issues. Performance is exceptional, very smooth driving experience. As a manual transmission, it is the base model but it is a very light weight feeling when driving. Excellent gas mileage and very spacious and comfortable. Because it is the base model, there are not a lot of extra features.

2018 Elantra gt: dream car.
My Elantra gt is honestly a life saver. Not only was it super affordable, but have you seen it is looks? But let's get real, I am at 16,000 miles after almost 3 years, and it is running at 32.4 mpg city. I am a pretty harsh driver too, but she keeps up with me. I am probably going to get the n-line next, but either way it will be a Hyundai.

Have space in the vehicle is my major concern for being comfortable in the car.
The car is great on gas, and a smooth ride. The only things I do not like about the car is that it a bit on the small size for me. And it does not have a lot of truck space as well as leg room while driving. The take is a bit on the slow side. And also the ac/heat takes a while to kick on sometimes.
accountCircle Christina K on April 14, 2021
It has a nice size screen that has multiple features that anybody would love.
It has a screen, where you can also add apple CarPlay, which is really nice. It drives smoothly as well. Gas is cheap around $20-25 to fill the tank. I usually fill around once a week. The carpet seating is not something that I love because they're easy to stain but that is a personal preference. The screen has so many different features on it. You can make phone calls through the screen. Bluetooth is something that is a must for me, and it works great. The sound system is pretty nice and can get loud if wanted. I also really like the look of the car. The lights are on the car in a way that looks really nice to me. The only negative I have is the carpet seating, but that is an easy fix and covers are something that can be purchased.

This car handles like a dream.
Handles fabulously. Great suspension. Amazing on gas. Looks sporty. Nice sport tires and rims for the purchase price which is very reasonable. Perfect for small family. Has great trunk space. Camera and speakers are good also. I would recommend this model vehicle.

Reliable and stylish sedan.
I love all of the features of my car, the high tech interior makes it feel more high-end than it really is. It gets great gas mileage and is comfortable for long trips. My only complaints are with the size as I have a large dog and the seats do not fold down flat enough for her, but I could have bought a bigger car! Few warranty issues but Hyundai has always helped out with them.

The most interesting detail is the apple CarPlay. It mimics your iPhone screen.
The only thing I do not like about my vehicle is the windshield wipers. They do not do a good job at actually clearing the rain/ water on the windshield. I would really encourage anyone interested in this car to get it, just be ready to buy your own set of windshield wipers when you leave the lot.

Media issues with the 2018 Elantra.
Overall the car is quite good. It does jerk a little as if it is having a hard time changing gears, but I am not exactly positive. I do have a ton of trouble with my apple CarPlay though. It hardly ever works. It is actually getting to the point that my media screen blacks out and I have to turn my car off to get it to come back on. I'll be discussing that with the dealership with I bring it in for maintenance.

Great mileage. Overall a great car.
Year the car is reliable. With great mileage. There is a good amount of trunk space. I have a good amount of room when I sit in the back. Sometimes it can be a little tight but it works out. When kids are in the car. It gives them room to move around. Overall. I love my car.
