Similar to other owners, my 12v battery has died 3 times in the past 18 months. I'm now told that I should have a trickle charger. This car has all sorts of gauges and indicators. Why not something that tells you how the 12v battery is? I gave 3 stars because I expect a new car to start when I need it.

Best car I’ve owned in 20+ years
I read all of the ratings and most of the low ratings are things that could have been fixed by looking in the manual. Especially things like the infotainment center and anything electrical. As far as the noise I read about in one you have to have a lemon. I’m amazed that I can tell the difference between ecoboost and the car running! It’s amamazingly quiet! I’ve never owned a better, safer, more luxurious for the cost or better looking car.

3 Times
My Escape broke down 3 times in less than a year. I was advised the battery was not charging or holding the charge properly and it just required a software update to repair the issue. However, the problem persisted. Dealer was great in attempting to fix the issue(s) in a timely fashion. Got rid of the Escape in Sept. Will stay away from hybrids for now until they get the bugs out of them. Spoke with a Ford Mechanic and was advised the Ford Escape is a regular visitor for repairs. But did say the 2.0 l gas engine, is a go too engine.

Terrible car
Have hated this car from the first mile. Heated seats are so hot they're not usable. When I put my car in park at lurches and turns on the parking brake. Says I didn't put the car in park. Doesn't alert that there's something behind me. I almost hit people. The car lurches when accelerating. Shifts hard from first to second gear. The window buttons are sharp and the chrome looking plastic peels off. Seal around liftgate fell off. Wasn't glued on! DON"T BUY THIS CAR!!!

Mediocre
Let’s start off with positives if this vehicle. At first glance, it’s very stylish and attractive. It drives great, smooth quick handling. The sound system is pretty good. The safety features are amazing. That’s pretty much it. Now let’s dig deeper. When I started To get to know the car I started to notice a lot of defects. The very first one was the A panel inside the vehicle. There was this big gap between the panel and the door seal exposing the head liner. It was a eye sore to look at. I went in and had it fixed because it was a know issue and they had to redesign the A panel. The new ones are a little better but not tight enough. Secondly and this one has been a huge one for me- headlights. The headlights have been replaced a few times and again, this is a known issue of the vehicle; the headlights get this filmy look on the inside of them. I hate it because it makes the car look older than it is and just ugly. Ford should be embarrassed. Another problem I have is the cup holder. I was detailing the vehicle one day and noticed that the bottom of the cup holder was broken. Where the cup sits, it was springy and fell down. Never has that ever happened to me with a vehicle. I am going to hold onto this car a little longer till I can sell it and trade it in for something that has better quality. No, it will not be a Ford.

2020 Ford Escape Has Many Problems
I had so many issues with my 2020 Escape that I got rid of it when it only had 4,000 miles. Electrical and engine problems. Horn would honk when I would open lift gate and would not stop until I went to open driver door. Electrical problems were intermittent. Windows would sometimes open again after window was closed. Window control button was so sharp that I cut my fingers twice. Horn would sometimes honk for no reason at all. Car would beep when I opened the driver door and would not stop until I got in the car and closed the door. This happened for two days and then it stopped . One day the moonroof opened all by itself when I was driving down a highway. I had passengers with me at that time so they witnessed it. The engine would rumble at between 35 and 45 miles per hour. I was hoping to keep this vehicle a long time, but 4,000 was all I could tolerate. I traded it in for another make and I am so much happier. Driving should be an enjoyable experience, but the 2020 Escape did not deliver. Steer clear of that vehicle. Hopefully, Ford will get all of the problems resolved.

Comfortable fuel sipper. With plenty of technology.
The escape is a very comfortable vehicle for even long drives. The seats are very comfortable and the adjustable lumbar support is great for the driver the technology on this model is excellent and its ability to park itself is a big bonus. It virtually drives itself with dynamic cruise control and lane centering turned on. I bought this car because of the hybrid engine and it has not disappointed. I get better than the EPA rated mileage and get close to 600 miles out of a tank of gas. The infotainment system is easy to operate, even when driving and the volume and tuning knobs are a satisfying touch for an old schooler like myself. Android auto works well, even if you do need a wired connection to the phone. The wireless hotspot was easy to set up and a great feature to have available for passengers. Nobody who has ridden in the back has complained about a lack of space, even though I am 6 ft tall and have the driver seat all the way back.

Uncomfortable seats
I have a 2020 Ford Escape SEL and I am also having an issue with a piece of metal or wiring that sticks up on the front seats making it very uncomfortable when driving. I am told by the salesman that all the 2020 Escape vehicles are this way. It is very annoying. Clawson MI

Great price and amazing features!
My ford is the best car I have ever owned. I had two escapes before that and was always happy. It is user friendly, great in snow, and has many benefits such as apple carplay, a heated steering wheel, and memory for seat positions. I love ford cars and I will continue to buy them in the future.

Don’t buy it
Horrible. I have been in to the dealer more times than I can count. My windows and sunroof won’t close consistantly. Ive had two windows crack for no reason and all has been reset several time. The car jerks at low speeds and the dealer keeps stating “they dont see anything wrong”. Add to that a liftgate that opens and closes when it wants, even if car is locked and I am nowhere in sight. Then we can add how the dashboard goes completely black meaning no odometer, gas tank level etc. Then there is the touch screen…always black and if touched randomly calls 911…again resets later still happening. Then there is the complete car melt down where every warning went off and the car died while driving. We will end with a seal around every door that is coming off and is on backorder…like everything else. Worst car ever and as a ford escape devotee…highly disappointed

Smooth as can be. Love the interior design. It's got nice leather seats and all the design that I could only imagine. We've been a long standing ford family and we love it. It's got great gas mileage. We only have to fill up once every week and a half.

Engine vibration is excessive
I've had this new 2020 Escape for a month now and I am really getting fed up with the engine vibration from the 3 cyl. Engine when the 3rd cylinder is deactivated which is most of the time. It is excessive and the dealer says it is normal. Is there a way the system can be disengaged? I'm getting to the point I want to use the Lemon law.

Excellent medium suv hybrid with good styling, handling and reliable performance.
I really enjoy the styling of my car, both internal and external. It has a clean, fresh, youthful feel while still providing nice space for 4-5 people in style and comfort. Very nice handling, nice interior leather finishes and great technological touches. There is some reverberation from the audio/bass, but otherwise the car is perfect.

Great gas mileage for an SUV.
I really like my escape for several reasons. Since its a compact SUV I can get really good gas mileage while still having the versatility of a hatch and higher ground clearance. The backseat is pretty spacious and the cubbies in the doors are helpful for storing things. The hatch is good sized and has a 12v outlet and a hidden spare with storage underneath the carpet which I use to keep bungee cords and such. There is also different driving modes you can use like normal, eco, sport, slippery, and sand or snow. Since it is a 2 wheel drive it's nice to have these options so it still maintains a certain amount of off road capability. Overall I really love my escape for its compactness, versatility and gas mileage. It's pretty sleek and smooth so it looks nice without being obnoxious or an eyesore. I am really glad I chose this vehicle since it has met and actually exceeded my needs and wants in a vehicle.

I love the size of the ford escape. I enjoy the seats that can be let down to allow more space. It has been helpful for carrying larger items. I love size and height of the car. I feel like it is easy to get around. I decided to get a bold blue color which has been nice. It is easy to keep clean.

2020 ford escape se sport hybrid.
Great gas mileage, love the ability to change between driving modes. Everyone says it looks like a luxury vehicle and they can barely hear it run. Regenerative braking slips sometimes. Medium smooth ride. Ample space for a vacation of 2 people. Plenty of room for passengers in rear seats even with battery.

Left me stranded! Bought this fancy new car. At 700 kms I got a power train malfunction. Took it into the dealership. They were unable to fix it!! There was lots of back and forth between the dealership and the enginers at Ford. This happened again and this time the car stopped moving and I was unable to drive. This happened a third time and stopped working in a drive through! My car was in the shop for EIGHT weeks (not including the previous days) to rip out the motor and transmission to replace the park lock actuator. I have had my car back for 1 week. My dealership has been great but dealing with Ford Canada is awful. Very poor customer care from Ford Canada.

About the seats.......
SO. There is actually a service bulletin about that hump that pokes you in the rear end in the middle of your heated seat! I had to print the service bulletin from the internet and take it to my dealer to get them to fix it, but they did fix it. Ford will NOT tell you about technical service bulletins, but to my knowledge, will cover issues for which a TSB has been issued. You can find out if your Escape qualifies using your VIN number. Google it. Good luck, fellow sufferers of sore hineys!

I love my 2020 escape se. But have had a few issues. Yes seat is hard, but I do love the heated seats. My back up camera was replaced and when my dealer installed the new one said the back up lines no longer were on the camera took to a different dealer turns out they didn’t sync it properly an hour later and worked great. Next issue I had was coming back from a long trip and my tailgate light was on pulled over and made sure to check everything nothing worked till I turned interior lights off then on. Did it a few times then stopped that, a month later all my interior lights came on and wouldn’t go off. Took right to dealer they fiddled with it a few min and said to make appointment I did but after it sat for about 10-20 min they went off let sit a few hours and they were still off. No issues, about a month later same issue dealer said it does like a system check when vehicle off. Now 2 days ago my interior lights won’t come on at all. Everything else works.. I don’t know what’s going on. I took right to dealer and now waiting to see what’s going on! Not sure I’ll buy another Ford.

Think twice before buying
I bought a new 2020 Escape titanium hybrid and as I am writing this I am sitting in the dealership for the 2nd time. The day I picked it up I could not take it home it would not go over 30 mph so they had to keep it and said they had to reset something and picked it up the next day. I should have went with my gut and said I do t want it! Now about a week later the hold brake says fault on the screen shut off the car and turned it back on and it worked then 2 days later the dashboard went blank, same thing turned off car and came back on. I would not recommend this car!! I know that ford just brought back the hybrid this year in the escape but I wish I would have waited a few years to buy one, to many bugs. Should have listened to friends and went with competitor not mentioning name but has a 4 in it they have not had any issues at all.

I've only owned it for a few weeks, but so far I love it. I wish the se trim level had backup sensors though. But that is about all I'd change. Fuel economy and electrical drive system
Have a drivers seat comfort issue. A pronounced lump in both the lower and seat back. Dealer said never had complaint before, however I found several on line complaints of issue. It’s related to heated seat connectors and wire lying directly under the seat cover. Ford issued a technical service bulletin to replace bottom cushion that dealer salesperson was unaware of.Lower seat cushion was modified by local auto aplostry shop but backrest still an issue. There is a horizontal bar that the seat over is attached which runs across the lower backrest buried in the crevice of the lower and backrest seat cushions which is still felt when sitting in the seat. Currently working on resolving that issue.

Love the car but not the front seats
I love everything about this car especiallythe exterior. We had a 2017 and it's definitely nicer. There are more standard bells and whistles and they make the car a pleasure to drive. The only complaint is the medal piece that sticks you in the butt in the front seats. Ford has to come up with some solution to this because it is very annoying. I'm glad to see that other people are having the same issue so maybe Ford will get a solution soon.

I love the touch screen and apple carplay. It is my favorite thing about the car.
I love pretty much everything about my car. I really only have two issues, and they're not major. The first is the when you lay the seats in the back down flat, there is a decently steep decent between them and the actual rear of the car, so it does not create a flat surface. The second is the buttons for the music. The ones on the steering wheel are fine, but the ones on the console are a bit awkward. Other than that it is been a great car.

Will Leave You STRANDED
Myself and 5 or 6 other owners have noted that the Titanium Hybrid will suddenly and for no apparent reason display a "Stop Safely Now" message on the dash and slow to a crawl. If you stop, the engine dies and it will not start again right away. Multiple owners have taken them to dealerships with ' no idea' being the response. Frankly, until Ford sorts out the hybrid drivetrain issues it may be best to wait. I know this is 'version 1.0' problem, but hopefully they fix it fast!

It has continued to provide a very smooth ride.

Sporty chic, and fuel efficient vehicle.
I absolutely love this vehicle. It is the perfect size and large enough to pack items for a trip, yet small enough to be convenient and cost efficient. The car drives well and I love the features such as crash alert (when someone breaks ahead of you) and it drives very smoothly. Not only do I love driving it and feel safe, it looks sharp and classic from the outside as well. The mileage is amazing and makes for a perfect vehicle! I also feel as though it drives decently through all different weather conditions including snow, ice, rain and so on. This car also has the feature that allows you to start your car from the ford app which is amazing, especially in the winter time when your car is freezing and iced over. Being able to start my car on the app from a good distance away is so very convenient. The chairs in the back also fold nicely to allow for more room, say if you were moving, I was able to pack my car full of my belongings when I moved from city to city. The sporty model of this car cannot be topped. I am a young female who finds this vehicle to perfectly match my lifestyle. It is large enough to allow me to feel safe on the road and compact enough to easily maneuver roads and tight parking lots. I love how the app can give you information on the cars fuel level, windshield fluid level, oil change and so on.

Avoid at all cost. You will regret buying this car
We bought a new 2020 Escape S FWD model in June 2020 after renting a 2019 while our car was in the body shop and loving the rental car. It's been nothing but problems ever since. First visit to the dealer with a long list of problems was in July just a month after purchase, and and none of the items were fixed because they wouldn't happen while at the dealership. Took it back for a second visit in December, and my wife noticed a knocking noise coming from the engine while on the way to drop the car off. The service manager heard the noise, and said that there was no oil in the engine, this after it was checked and completely full a week or two before that. Long story short, turns out there was a bad pin in cylinder number 1 that worked loose and was rattling inside of the cylinder against the piston. After having our "new" car over 7 weeks, they replaced the engine and updated a couple items on factory recall. All of the electronic problems that were there before they replaced the engine are still there, and we're in the process of getting a refund through an attorney because this car qualifies for it under the California Lemon Law. This car is a complete piece of junk, and the last Ford product we will ever buy.

My car has an automatic turn off.
Fords in general are all very reliable. So far with my car I have had no problems. My dad has had his ford truck for 13 years and it has still had no problems. I highly recommend buying any ford. The problems that come along with them are very little.

Luxurious, fully loaded SUV.
Great speed pickup and power, luxurious interior, power, heated leather seats, it is own Wi-Fi spot, Sirius XM, navigation, large, easy-to-read touch screen, really smooth ride, flip-up screen in front of the driver that gives information such as speed and navigation, internal braking coach, power moon roof, excellent gas mileage due to being a hybrid, cameras all around the car, lane helper while in cruise control, park assist. Love this car!

Ford 2020 escape se black.
I really love that the car has some great safety features plus touch-screen navigation and CarPlay. I can answer texts by speaking them aloud and my car has heated seats and the perfect amount of space for a college student who is constantly on the go!

The car looks like a Porsche. Many people comment on the luxury look of my car.
The only problem that I have had was the aluminum on the window button started peeling. But ford fixed it right away with no charge. It drives really well. It is a great starter car. This is the first car I bought on my own. It is comfortable. I love the huge sunroof.

Ford escape, great little car.
Reliable and comfy to drive from day-to-day. I have had the ford escapes since the 2010 “boxy” model and this year (2020) has by far the best gas mileage since I have owned them. The vehicle handles well and I have had no issues yet with already 19000 miles.

Manual shifter's. Makes this escape rock.
I live the rear view camera. The ease and maneuverability. The interior could use some help. Leather seats. Mpg is great. And the pick up rocks. Especially with the shifters. Of been great. All in all though I would buy another one. If given the choice again.

Feels like luxury, at an affordable price.
The car is very comfortable. It is sporty, runs well. It is good in the snow. Feels like a luxury vehicle inside. Only have had minor issues with the radio but with a ford sync update. The car has heated seats, heated steering wheel. The car is also very safe.

I like Bluetooth feature-saying the commands without taking hands off the wheel.
It is reliable and comfortable. Not too large but not compact. I commute and it is very reliable and safe. I did not get upgrades such as leather seats but the base package has been just fine. I especially like the feature that informs the driver how many miles you have left with gas, when maintenance is needed, etc. Also Bluetooth is included so hands free calling.

Dependable, great in snow and every day driving.
Very reliable, the best gas mileage of any vehicle I have owned. Does great in the snow, looks nice and enough space for our family of 4. I love that the back seat has ability to be pushed back to allow for more leg room for my growing boys. I wasn't a big fan of the placement of touch screen at first but it is great for line of sight and not allowing for distracted driving.

Ford escape is fun & practical & sports. Does not look like a 'mom-mobile.'.
My vehicle is fun to drive. It has pick up and handles nicely on the freeway. The backseat is roomy enough for my two children (one in a booster seat). The back hatch has plenty of room for groceries, sports gear, etc. The trim features heated leather seats, the touch screen display for the rear camera and other application is very clear and easy to use. I love the full moon roof. The ford app allows me to start the car and lock/unlock doors with my phone. The displays are all clear and easy to see and use,

Ford escape: great design. Reliability to be determined.
The ford escape is a recent purchase. I only have 1000 miles on it so far. I am pleased with it is design and color. Ford also has a bunch of videos online that help you familiarize yourself with the car. I suggest watching every one of them because I learned a great deal about my vehicle by taking the time to do so. The videos are very efficient, most running less than a minute highlighting the various features. The one thing that I am concerned about is that I have had various warning lights come on. As mentioned previously, I only have 1000 miles on the car. The reason I purchased a new car is so that I would not have to worry about maintenance. I have an appointment to have it looked at, but it is taking me a week to get in. I am hopeful that it is just a computer glitch that can be recalibrated, but am anxious until I know for sure. I will certainly be keeping a record of all of the warning lights as they appear to make certain that the issues are addressed properly. I have faith in the ford name, and hope that they do not disappoint. Stay tuned.

Great car, I love carplay, great features good in all weather conditions. It has great comfort and it gets pretty good gas mileage, it is reliable I never feel uncomfortable or have the engine breakdown. I would recommend it to customers. It is a decent price too.

Think twice before buying this!!!!!
I bought the Titanium hybrid and it has been in the shop 5 times in the last 30 days. I haven't even made the first payment yet. I wish they were all the same reasons but it has been 5 different things. Went to pick it up and it would not go over 35 MPH then the Auto hold fault, display screen went blank, GPS radio screen went blank, rear wipers went on for no reason, Screen went from radio to phone while driving. I have contacted ford several times and they will not return my call. Previously owned a Hyndai but they did not have Hybrid. Ford does not seem to care after the car is sold!!

5 months old - in shop 6 tmes
Took 3 service visits for Check engine light, Replaced Catalytic converter at 800 miles and no problem since. Replaced rear camera but went out again. Ford is working on a fix. Spot on dash started coming visible, about 8” circle, replaced dash. Trim on back hatch come off. Panel under dash on front passenger side dropped off. Rear cargo cover unusable because they made the Cover but not the connections. Really Ford, what are you thinking?

Poor workmanship fit and finish
No I can not recommend, though it has potential. The power train and gas mileage are fantastic. But the shell they put on top is just awful, rattles, roof line pulling loose around edges, door switches come loose, careful might cut a finger. Backup camera is a maybe will work maybe not, "last trip to dealer says recall in the works" dash display has trouble starting up sometimes. Sun roof rattles and makes so much noise I am afraid it will implode 1 day. Make sure dealer is nearby and you have a extra car to drive if you purchase one of these.

Traveling with the 2020 ford escape titanium hybrid.
This car hits a very important part of the market. We travel often and this vehicle is large enough to pack all of our needed belongings into to travel and still get amazing gas mileage. Only complaints I would have would be of the autonomous-ish features, but that is expected as it is a new technology. We have had one recall in the form of the back-up camera, but it was covered under warranty and fixed swiftly. This vehicle is great for traveling and in town use. It fits the market in a special place where people can travel with the vehicle and bring things with them, all while keeping great gas mileage. Secondly it is usable in town in tight areas as well, due to its size. Great for exploring new areas as it is small and gets great gas mileage, again. The panoramic roof has allowed us to take many pictures and observe many things that most are not able to, also!

Vibrate, Shake and disappoint
So disappointed: I have had my 2020 For Escape only 4 week. Driving the car in the Normal drive setting the RPM stay so low that when you push on the gas pedal the car starts to Vibrate, Shake and makes a rumbling noise. The one thing you want from a vehicle is a good ride. Your NOT going to get it with the 2020 Escape Ecosport. I have had only 4 weeks and want to trade. You'll be sorry because it looks great.

It is a white 2019 ford escape.
The car runs really well and is amazing on gas mileage. The car is a perfect size for a small family. The back seat is the perfect size. The front seat as well. It has seat warmers for when you are freezing cold in the winter and need that extra warmth. It has a sunroof as well which is fun to use during the summer and fall time.

I am used to having manual headlights, so it is nice that it has auto headlights.
I love the gas mileage and the overall look of the vehicle, but ford is not my first choice. I would've rather purchased a dodge. This vehicle has not failed me once, other than the faulty backup camera, but it was repaired free of charge of course. It is a wonderful family car.

There have been many complaints regarding the bulge caused by the heated seat mechanism on front seats of the 2020 Escape. There is a TSB for cars built before 14 February, 2020. TSB# WTSB20-2216 dated July 2020

Quality
First brand new car I have ever purchased and what a major disappointment..the placement of the seat heat element is beyond uncomfortable, EGR had to be replaced, back lift gate will not detect or sense the motion to open and my air conditioning leaks all over my foot and my floor when I drive it longer than 30 minutes. I have had in the shop 5 times and still dealing with these issues.

Smooth comfortable ride with pep.
Our 2020 ford escape titanium is fantastic. 2.0 engine and you have the ability to change from normal to eco to sport etc for how you want the vehicle to drive. Ok fuel mileage, averaging at approx 25 mpg; not great, not terrible. Very comfortable with memory seat settings. Good size; we moved from a focus and this one has a little more storage and sits higher up so it is easier to get in and out and easier to get our small dog in and out of his back seat booster seat. Has all the bells and whistles, even parks itself. There is a fb group called 2020 escape owners discussion group so that has helped a lot in hearing others experience with the vehicle. We bought ours with 7,000 miles on it so we figure if there were any bugs, they were already addressed. Purchased the weathertech floor mats, which are great. The back seats even move forward and back, the same way front seats do!! Interactive onboard screen for radio, navigation, phone/Bluetooth and so much more. Really enjoy our new to us vehicle.

Great family car for midrange budget.
The back seat has a lot of leg room. The cargo area is pretty decent for the car size too. I am not a big fan of the auto start stop feature, so I turn it off every time I start the car. I love the feature that allows you to stop the vehicle from crawling without having to press the brake. I have not had any problems with this car so far. The windshield washer fluid reservoir could be bigger in my opinion.

It is bigger than the 2015 escape, the back up camera has a glitch that needs fixed. Drives good, very comfortable. I do not like the automatic bright light feature, I feel like I am flashing my brights at people. Great gas mileage 30 mpg, love the new look, the tinted windows are awesome, very roomy.

Amazing.But screen issues.
I love my escape and all of the features that come along with it! I have a beautiful moon roof but it only actually opens the same as a sunroof if that matters to you. The only problem I have had with my 2020 escape is the screen has cut out about 3 times within a couple months in the summer. I assume it got too hot for it to handle however that should've been considered in the design. The last thing I also have noticed is on my window switch the chrome is already starting to peel. Other than those two things the car drives and runs great and is spacious enough for our growing family.

Ford escape 2020: a step in the right direction.
The drivability of the car is fantastic. Handles great! I could drive the car with one finger if I needed to. Seats are comfortable. Se model has heated seats. The ability to control the car via the ford app is great. I can start my car, lock & unlock, and pay my car's monthly bill from the ford app. Interior is very sleek and in-style. Air control and outlet in back seat. In-car tablet is a little wonky but gets the job done. Overall, a very good car. 8/10.

Recent vehicle purchase based on price and current best deals.
When recently car shopping, I was debating between the Toyota rav4 (2019 or newer), Honda CR-V (2017 or newer) or the ford escape hybrid. I drive over 70 miles a day and I ended up going with the ford escape because I found the best deal, including the current 0% Apr financing, and that I could by brand new for about the same price and buying used (when comparing against my other top choices).
