The 2015 Chevrolet Impala lasts around 250,000 miles with only some minor transmission and dash gauge issues. At $11,050 to $16,775, it’s cheaper than other full size sedans making it a great value for a comfortable car.

Passenger room is fantastic throughout the cabin, the suspension is smooth and the V6 engine offers good power for the size of the Impala.

The sloping rear window limits visibility, its standard 4-cylinder engine is weak and the touchscreen feels slower than average.

Great car that you just have to pay a little more for but it is to your benefit.
I love my car. It has a spacious room for passengers and myself. My favorite features are lane departure, braking alert and blind spot identification. Definitely helps to feel and stay safe while driving. There are a lot of hidden gems to this car. One problem is that it is identifies as a sports car so you do pay more for features and in insurance.

How long the car lasts without problems.
It is too low to the ground and the more mileage the less functionality it has. It is a beautiful car but I would prefer a SUV.

Constant problems
I’ve only had the fr four years and had nothing but problems with it.Within three months I had to replace the catalytic convertor. Then I’ve also had to replace the wheel bearing three times. Also, my head lights keep going out every other week. The car drives nice but mechanical issues I’ve spent over 3000 on a car that doesn’t even have 100,000 miles and is only four years old

Why oh why would you put a Bose sound system in a vehicle and not have the option of a HD radio. It makes me wonder if sirius xm bought off gm by only installing analog radio.

It has known problems. Dont buy if you can afford something different
It is a great vehicle other than the issues with the stabilitrak. It is a common problem for this to go out. And can't figure out how to fix it.

Poor review, I will not be buying another Chevrolet product.
This car has a great ride. However, this car has had many maintenance issues. The transmission has been almost totally rebuilt and they tell you it was built to run on e85 gas but does not. The car has had many issues with the most recent being the power steering went out. The car constantly has the stabilitrak light come if you use e85 gas evening hot dry weather. Check engine light just stays on. Joseph Chevrolet will not turn it off unless we let them replace the timing chain mechanism for over $1200.00.

2015 Chevrolet impala ls dependable and reliable.
The 2015 Chevrolet impala ls features airbags front and back and side, automatic starter, heated seats, stereo system, on-star system, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, rear spoiler. The 2015 Chevrolet impala has been extremely reliable with few visits to dealer with the exception of three or four recalls.

The paint is perfect the engine is a v8.
My vehicle is perfectly fine my only problem is the brakes other than that everything works perfect, it rides smooth and is very comfortable I've had for about a year now thinking of getting a new one but I am undecided at this point, it's a very reliable car good on gas great for traveling.
accountCircle Drika W
Impalas are reliable cars, just minors complaints. Good on gas!
I believe that the car sits too low to the ground. Sometimes it takes a while to accelerate after pressing the gas pedal. The interior is easy to maintain and wipe down. The basic ls sometimes has connection issues with Bluetooth and aux cord availability.

What Do Critics Say About the Chevy Impala?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2015 Impala is a remarkably enjoyable large sedan with high owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds gives the 2015 Impala a 4/5, praising the quiet ride, but doesn’t like the weak 4-cylinder engine.
  • Kelley Blue Book users rate the Impala at 4.6/5 enjoying the extremely roomy cabin, but owners don’t like the lack of a V8 engine.

What Common Problems Does the 2015 Chevrolet Impala Have?

Common problems found on the 2015 Chevy Impala include hesitation while shifting between gears, power steering failures, as well as dash gauge lights wearing out. Overall, these problems and the associated repair costs are average for a large sedan from 2015.

Hesitation while shifting between gears is a problem reported by some owners at around 35,000 miles. The transmission control module is usually the source of the problem. Resetting the transmission control module fixes the problem according to owners, costing around $150.

Power steering failures are a rare, but are a serious issue mentioned by owners at roughly 65,000 miles. If the power steering system fails then there is a warning light which turns on at the dash. Replacing the power steering components costs around $1,400, depending on local labor rates.

Dash gauges lights wearing out also show up on some Impala models in the first 10,000 miles. The stock bulbs just burn out quickly in some cases. Changing out the bulbs is a bit labor intensive, so even though the bulbs are only around $20, it costs about $300 to install new bulbs.

There are 3 minor recalls on the 2015 Chevy Impala, which is better than other large sedans. The most serious recall covers the electronic parking brake, and can be fixed by updating the software. Other recalls cover the center console storage lid as well as the occupant sensing system, which are also addressed by Chevy dealers for free.

How Long Will the 2015 Chevrolet Impala Last?

A well-maintained 2015 Chevy Impala lasts around 250,000 miles, which is only slightly shorter than the top-rated Toyota Avalon. Regular annual maintenance costs are average for a sedan of its size, according to data from Repair Pal, at $537 per year.

Since nearly all 2015 Chevy Impala models for sale will have over 100,000 miles buyers should be prepared to replace the intake manifold gasket for $700, the brake booster costing $450, and the steering knuckle which costs $425.

accountCircle Dawn S

Since the car was purchased, there has been zero problems mechanically. I do regular maintenance, oil changes, tire rotations etc, and nothing else has been needed.

accountCircle Tara M

It is a very reliable vehicle. The only issue it has ever had is an vacuum leak which my husband replaced himself. It gets wonderful fuel mileage on the highway.

accountCircle Shantrice C

I have experienced little to no issues that needed fixing while owning this car. The only repair that I have needed was the brake pads replaced.

accountCircle Drena C

Yes,I do have problems with my car. All of a sudden my car makes a knocking sound when I turn on the heat or the air conditioner. It's very annoying.

accountCircle Donald H

Mechanically yes it is reliable as long as you keep up with the service. Like I have said it needs a beefed up air system.

accountCircle Zona B

We haven't had any problems with it. We get the oil changed every three months or 5,000 miles, which is what is recommended, and rotate the tires regularly as well, so the driving portion of the car works really well. The traction control randomly turns on after we have turned it off, though. We're not sure why it does that.

accountCircle Molly B

Yes my Chevy is very reliable I rarely have problems with it. There are minor electrical problems with it but not many. Car is still in good shape and I have had it for two years. Other problems are basically maintenance problems that are going to occur regardless.

accountCircle Ling K

Very reliable with no mechanical problems at this time as long as maintenance is done. Especially good since the vehicle tells you if there are any items needed to be checked

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is decent in the 2015 Chevy Impala with a standard 4.2-inch display and an 8-inch touchscreen. Safety technology is also great with an optional rearview camera, forward collision alert, blind spot monitoring, automatic braking, and even adaptive cruise control.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala a Good Value?

Yes, the 2015 Chevy Impala is a decent value since it’s cheaper than most other large sedans. Blue book prices range from $11,050 to $16,775, which makes it more affordable than a Hyundai Genesis or Chrysler 300. When new, the price range was $27,060 to $40,660. Depreciation is worse than average, losing about 14% of its current value per year.

What are the Different Models of the Chevy Impala?

VehicleHistory Image

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The tenth generation of the Chevy Impala was introduced in 2014, and discontinued after 2020 due to declining sales.

2013: Luxury edition package added.

2014: Fully redesigned for the 10th generation with new engines, transmissions, and styling.

2015: 4G data with WiFi hotspot added.

2016: Wireless phone charging added, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto available.

2017: No major changes.

2018: Rearview camera standard on all models along with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

2019: No major changes.

2020: 2.5L 4-cylinder and Base LS models discontinued, final year of the Impala.

How Does the Chevy Impala Compare to the Competition?

The Chevrolet Impala is better than a lot of other full size sedans since it’s more reliable, cheaper to own, and has better technology available.

The Chevy Malibu is another sedan offered by Chevrolet, which costs around $500 more. Performance is better in the Chevy Malibu since it’s lighter, while passenger space is more generous in the Chevy Impala. We recommend the Chevy Impala since there’s more technology available for 2015, but both are decent sedans.

The Toyota Camry is a slightly smaller sedan from Toyota, which costs about $1,000 more. Where the Toyota Camry stands out is with lower ownership costs, while the Chevy Impala has a more upscale interior available. We recommend the Toyota Camry since they last longer, but both are nice sedans worth taking a look at.

Do Owners Recommend the Chevy Impala?

Yes, this car is an excellent vehicle. The styling is elegant, yet somewhat sporty. It is not what I would call an older person's car. The mechanics of this car is solid and very dependable. For the past 3 years, I have been getting between 28 to 32 mpg on the highway. With general maintenance, such as oil changes every three thousand miles, this car continues to get outstanding mileage and runs like a new car!

accountCircle Tara M

Yes it has been a great vehicle. I bought it brand new with 12 miles. Not the vehicle I wanted when I purchased it but has been better than I thought it would be.

It is a good vehicle mechanically but the stereo system and the air system could use a upgrade in my opinion.

accountCircle Rachael S

I think so. It runs good, with proper maintenance, and the trunk space is huge. The interior space is also very large. It has multiple electrical things (cigarette lighter spots) which is convenient for hooking up things like GPS or a phone that is playing music.

I love it
I got my first impala mid 2020, a black Chevy Impala LT, Flex Fuel Edition. It had around 127,000 miles. The car was fantastic with no issues, just regular oil changes. At around 160,000miles the fuel pump needed to be replaced which was around a little under 500$ plus labor, so over 1k repair. But I opted to do it myself and saved myself around 800$. At around 180,000miles. The suspension was completely shot and needed a full rebuild, 1,500$. The ABS light and traction control lights came on. After all this the was like new again, it felt like it was brand new off the lot, and very smooth. I sold that one and upgraded to a 2013 Chevy Impala LTZ. Flex-Fuel edition as well. At around 159,000miles, the car was burning oil at 166,000miles so I opted for a rebuild 3,400$, at around 180,000miles the suspension needed a partial rebuild. Spend around 700$ and did it myself. This time. Saved myself around 800$ in labor. The car now has 220,000miles and running strong like, with that being said if you maintain these cars properly they will go on forever, my current vehicle has had its transmission serviced at regular intervals, since it’s manufactured date, and shows no signs of giving up anytime soon. The same can’t be said for the engine. I would absolutely buy this car again, a newer model of course. With some sort of warranty , because this can be a very reliable car if serviced properly. It has a strong V6 engine with a smooth 6speed automatic transmission, and you get to save on gas and help the environment with the Flex-fuel option! The LTZ option also comes with a premium Bose sound system, leather seats, heated seats, paddle shifter, steering wheel controls, sport rims, and no limiter on the speed! This car will cruise at 120-150 no problem depending on the model you have. You also get 1,400lbs towing capabilities. And a sunroof. I recommend this car, absolutely, but make sure you run a CarFax report, so you can see the maintenance history.

I love impalas. Before I purchased my most recent one I had impala. I loved it so much that I decided to stay with the same make and model but just upgraded a few years. It has so far been a really reliable car. My previous impala had over 300,000 miles and was still running great. They drive amazing and I haven't really had any issues with it yet. I did have one sensor in my motor that had to be replaced not long after I bought it, but after that it has ran really well. I do keep up with the maintenance. I think that is the key to keeping your car running. I believe that my next car will be an impala or at least something in the Chevrolet family.

The great and fantastic Chevrolet impala.
I have a 2015 Chevrolet impala lt. My impala is pretty great, it functions as intended and I rarely have any problems with it. The leather seats offer great comfort in combination with the underlying cushions and automated seat warming system. My impala runs smooth, so there is barely any noise made on start up and while driving. This really allows the car to have a fantastic and calm driving experience every trip. My impala is all white with black trimming around the vehicle, with a perfect shiny finish. The wheels are 18s, which allows for a smooth ride every time I go driving. I have a great GPS navigation system that easily allows me to get from point a to point b. The automated alert system also helps me to stay alert of oncoming accident potential so that I may live to speak another day. The easy to use, mirror controls allow me to fix my side mirrors and rear view mirror into just the right position, so I can see any and all vehicles approaching me. The tires that I have are fantastic for all weather conditions, so I need not to worry that I will began to slide for no reason nor that I will stray from the road. Did I mention that the push to start feature is truly amazing because it allows me not to have to worry about putting key into the ignition in order to start my impala. Also this helps fantastically because I have a keychain, so the push to start feature allows me to not have to worry that I might snatch my key from the ignition while driving.

It's a very smooth ride. I love the navigation features, phone connectivity is very easy. It is very spacious in the front and back seats. The one thing that I do not like is the way it burns gas around town. It is great on gas on the highway, but it sucks riding around town. I love the heated seats and steering wheel. It also has a cooling control for the seats. Replacing a headlight will hurt your pocket... One headlight cost over $130. But overall I love the car.

In all, I would recommend this vehicle to anyone because I really do like it
My Chevy Impala is one of the best cars that I have ever driven. Let me explain why. It drives so smooth. My daily rides are never bumpy and my driving space on the inside is spacious and comfortable. I love the radio system as well. When I purchased my car, it came with a free subscription to XM radio for one month. Though I didn't renew it for a monthly fee, I thought it was a nice perk to buying the car. Now, let's get to the body of the car. I am a smaller woman, so sometimes I am intimidated by large vehicles. I'm never sure how much space is around me in a large vehicle. My Chevy Impala is just the right size. I never have trouble backing out or just maneuvering the vehicle in general.

Details of my present vehicle.
I don't really think I have got issues with my current vehicle though. Well I have to say to it is so comforting, nice, really cool and awesome,I have three cars but my Chevrolet impala is my favorite. I really do love it and I hope to purchase another Chevrolet brand whenever I am fully ready to purchase a new vehicle.

Fully loaded Chevy impala.
This is my first car. I enjoy all the bells and whistles. For example: sunroof, Bluetooth, navigation, heated seats, ventilated seats, etc. Gas mileage is also not too bad. All in all, this car serves its purpose with style. I would definitely recommend it.

Amazing car smooth riding very good attention to detail when built.
Not really any problems major just regular upkeep. The car has actually been a really good and reliable vehicle. It is great or gas mileage and seats 5 people comfortably. It rides smooth has a lot of features as well as a good crash test safety rating. I would definitely buy another Chevy impala!

Sleek looking and Great on Gas
Very comfortable and stylish. I love the mechanical seats and how they operate. The dashboard material is very durable. The sound system is ok. I like how it has Bluetooth for phone hookup which makes it convenient for driving. The room in this vehicle is vast. The back seat is large for any size passenger. I like how you just press the gas cover to open it making it easy and convenient. Cooling and heat work fine. I like how it isles or kind of shuts off if you are at a stop for a long period of time. Great in gas. I have not had any mechanical issues with it at all. However, there are many blind spots which makes it difficult to drive.

It's a reliable car but it could definitely be better.
Wish it was easier to get into and out of it. The door to seat gap is too wide.

It's a great car for our family.
My impala is great car. Runs smoothly. Late space. Lots of power and real sporty looking cars great on gas and takes flex fuel which is cheaper. It's a very stylish car and the kids love it was well. Plenty of room for the kids in back and lots of truck space for groceries..

My Chevy is sleek and safe.
My car I purchased after a major accident of no fault of my own. The style of the car is sleek and nice. Super comfortable to drive and ride along in. Has great gas Mileage as well. I feel safe driving in my car. It has a great backup camera with sounds to accompany the camera when people, cars or anything thing else are too close to the car when backing out. It had sensors on each side of the car that determines if you can switch lanes safely. My one and only concern about the car so far has to do with the touch screen radio. Sometimes the screen with go black out of nowhere.

Nice large comfortable car. Lots of room for passengers and packages
I like the size, it is a big car. I have a complaint about the ABS system. GM needs to do recall on these cars due to a constant grinding noise

Best car I have ever owned!
Very reliable, no problems as long as I keep up on the routine maintenance. Very comfortable for long traveling drives. Love the leather seats and the stylish inside look of the car as well as the outside. Very pleased with this model and I plan to keep it for many more years to come.

Performance and reliability
My 2015 Chevrolet Impala LS has had problems with the electronics - the backup sensor, side sensors and backup mirror have been repaired. Repairs were covered under recall notice. Performance of the vehicle is very good. Other than the issues repaired under the recall, the vehicle has been very reliable.

Lots of car for the price.
I like that it is very quiet inside and it's a 6-cylinder, so when you our your foot in the gas, it goes! It uses regular gas, which is good. The AC is cold. When driving at night the lights are dim and don't light up as much tired as my old car did. I don't like bucket seats. And the sill plate be is high trying to lift my legs up to get in and out of the car.

Very comfortable 4 door seating large trunk, On-Star and USB port but lower MPG.
Most comfortable vehicle I ever sat in. Nice Interior with elegant silver trims. Extra hidden storage with USB port. On-Star qualified so extra safe feature being a senior citizen. MPG could be better though as is a larger than mid-size car. Wonderful large trunk-great storage capacity.

I guess most interesting is it is so big and roomy inside.
I really love my Chevrolet Impala the ride is so comfortable. I do not get really tired when I am driving. The car is very quiet with no wind noise. Love my car.

Facts an impala you will not regret on getting one.
Sometimes one of the back doors will not unlock and as well when you open the car it makes a. Noise but then goes away. But in the bright side the car is spacious and wide the car runs great no engine or transmission problems just little minor ones. Only thing I probably would change would be the interior from the inside to fabric so the seats will not be either cold or hot.

Impala, the car that has it all.
Comfortable full-size sedan with modern style, a large interior and a cavernous trunk. I love the ride and performance of it. The interior is roomy and quiet and has exceptional horsepower. The power steering provides a huge assist, there very little sway for passengers when making turns, and the ride is also very smooth. Great style, performance and comfort.

Awesome car that is a nice ride.
I have not had any problems with it and it works great for me. I get pretty good gas mileage, it is a smooth ride, handles well and is comfortable. I really like the backup camera on the car since my last car did not have one. I also like the heated seats and the ability to warm up my car from my house during the winter time.

Great gas mileage. Great 6 cylinder power. Easy to maintain.
Great gas mileage. Easy to maintain. Love that it shows when my tires are low, or it is time to change my oil. I am short so I needed a vehicle that would allow for visibility out the back window, and this one does. Love that it is a 6 cylinder and has a lot of power to get on the highway.
accountCircle Denise H on January 8, 2021
It is a dependable car. The car gets good gas mileage.
I love the style and color of my car. My car is very comfortable as I can adjust my seats. My car is smooth riding.

Bluetooth does not work so great.
No complaints! Love it?? Rides real smooth and roomy inside. Actually I do dislike the dome light, has not enough light and in a bad place. Everything else is great.
