The Audi TT's key fob may not work if wiring within it is disconnected, the battery has died or it needs progRamming/reprogRamming. Replace the battery by separating the two plastic sides of the fob and installing a new 3-volt battery. To re-progRam, use the valet or master key to lock and unlock the vehicle using the remote buttons. Finish by locking and unlocking the door manually, using the actual key. Do this within 1 minute of depressing the remote buttons. Repeat the process more than once and always leave the passenger door unlocked. If the fob fails to sync, repeat but adding an additional remote lock and unlock step before proceeding manually.

One of the most common reasons why the key fob won't work on the Audi TT MK1 is due to a dead key fob battery.
