There are two many causes for the trunk opening on it's own for a 2016 Honda Civic. The first one is going to be an obvious one but still many owners Make this error. If you are putting the keyfob in your pocket it's possible that you are accidentally pressing down the trunk button and causing it to open. You may want to invest in a lanyard so you can wear your keys around your neck if this is the issue. The next most common issue is going to be a bad latch. It's possible that your latch has become damaged or there is a blockage. You're going to need to inspect this entire area for issues.
