If Your 2016 Ford F-150 steering wheel controls are not working there are several possible reasons. The first and most common reason is that Your stereo has frozen. You will need to reboot the infotainment screen and then try again. Always make sure to keep Your software up to date to prevent freezing. The next most likely reason why Your wheel controls will not work is simply that the switch board has failed in the steering wheel. This is known to happen and if one switch fails then the rest of the steering wheel controls do not work. You will need to disassemble the wheel to replace it. The third reason Your steering wheel controls may not work is due to a loose wire on the back of the head unit that comes from the steering wheel.

If the steering wheel controls are not working in your 2016 ford f-150, you may need a new steering wheel switch.

I did an infotainment screen reset and now the steering wheel audio controls work correctly. I did have to hold the volume and seek up buttons for 10 seconds before the screen went black and reset. I didn't think it had anything to do with SYNCH, but it must have something to do with the screen inputs from the steering wheel controls. I have a 2016 F-150 XLT 4x4. This is what the manual says, "The touchscreen system has a system reset feature that can be performed if the function of a SYNC feature is lost. This reset is intended to restore functionality and will not erase any information previously stored in the system (such as paired devices, phonebook, call history, text messages, or user settings). To perform a System Reset, press and hold the Seek Up (>>) button while pressing and holding the Radio Power button. After approximately 5 seconds the screen will go black. Allow a 1-2 minutes for the system reset to complete. You may then resume using the SYNC system."
