The Volkswagen Golf Mk7, covering model years 2015 to present, has a key fob that requires the use of a CR2025 battery. Swapping it out is a very simple procedure -- first, You'll need to flip the key to the open position and use a soft plastic tool to pry upwards, popping the cover off. This exposes the battery, which can be removed with a small flathead screwdriver. Replace the battery, and replace the cover. The CR2025 is a very inexpensive button cell battery -- You can sometimes find quantity packs that work out to less than fifty cents per battery. Since reliability is key (pun intended) in a key fob, I recommend You go with a reputable brand. You can still find replacements from the likes of Duracell or Energizer for less than a dollar per battery.

To replace the battery in the key fob for a 2016 Volkswagen Golf MK7 you will need to use a 3v CR2032 battery.
