The tail light fuse in a 2005 Chevy Malibu can be found in the back of the vehicle near the left rear well. This is the auxiliary fuse panel for the accessories at the back of the car. When Your tail lights are not working the first thing to check is this fuse. If that is in tact then the next thing I suggest You take a look at is the wiring where it enters the tail light housing. If the wiring is all good then the most likely problem is one with the actual bulbs. These can burn out over time and will need to be replaced in order to get the lights working properly again.

When I change my girlfriends you have to pull the carpet back in the trunk on the left side you pull it back and there's two knobs and you unscrew both of those and on the outside where the trunk closes there's a screw it goes into the side you take that screw out and the tailgate the tail light will pop out and all you do is slightly turn it and pull it out and then you just walk inside AutoZone
