While anti-lock brakes can be a godsend, they really do introduce a lot of components that can fail. In the case of the Honda Civic, there aren't too many reported issues with the ABS in general, but there are still a few things to look out for. The main braking problem of note is on the 2016 Civic. Specifically, Honda recalled over 350,000 of these models, as their electric parking brake was known to not engage when the vehicle was off. This puts undue stress on the transmission. Another commonly reported problem across all model years is wheel speed sensors failing, which leads to illumination of the ABS light on the dashboard. Civics are particularly prone to this, so it should be the first thing You check if Your ABS dash light comes on.

Honda is recalling 350,083 of its latest 2016 civics, as the electric parking brake may not be used when the engine is turned off, leading to the risk that the car could roll away and crash.
