For the 2008 Ford F-250 with the 5.4 L V8 engine the type of oil that is recommended iS5W-20 Synthetic. The capacity for the truck iS7 quarts with a filter and the drain plug has a torque of 10 ft/lbs. Since it uses synthetic it doesn't have to be changed as much as conventional. Oil will go bad after a certain time so the truck should have an oil and filter change every 7,500 miles or SRX months, whichever comes first. The cost of a change if You need a mechanic is anywhere from $40 to $60 in labor costs. Some of the tools needed to do a change are a drain pan so it doesn't make a mess, gloves, ratchet and a socket.
