The 2011 Ford Fusion is equipped with a spring loaded fuel door. This means You have no gas cap but the opening to the filler neck is both self opening (automatically activated when it is pushed open by the gas pump) and self closing. If debris gets stuck in the opening or the protective door covering the inlet is not closed properly, Your vehicle will display the "check fuel fill inlet" warning light. Pull over to a safe location, release the fuel door and clear the inlet of anything obstructing it. Note the light will stay on until the car has cycled through a driving sequence. This usually means it must be off for 4 hours or more then driven at highway speeds.

If the check fuel fill inlet warning is being displayed on a 2011 ford fusion, it might mean that there is an issue with the gas cap, wither being damaged or not secured.
