Some of the throttle body issues for the VW Golf Mk6 are described as rough and fluctuating idle, stalling of the engine, accelerating pause, and sometimes the engine will go into limp mode. On the throttle body, which is mounted on the right side of the engine under the air filter housing, the throttle location sensor is located. Any of the causes of failure of the throttle body could be debris, carbon, and dirt build-up in the air-flow housing. The problem is referred to as coking because it prevents air from travelling and causes an imbalance. Depending on the brand and quality of the product, the price for a replacement throttle body is reported as $100 to $350.
