The check engine light in Your 2013 Kia Soul is used as a warning that something has gone wrong with Your vehicle. This warning is usually caused by an emissions systems part like an 02 sensor or the catalytic converter. After You have fixed whatever caused the problem You will need to shut off the light. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to disconnect the negative battery terminal for 15 - 20 minutes. This is usually enough to reset the ECM and clear the code that triggered the light. The next best option is to buy a cheap OBD II reader online, this will let You read and clear any codes that show up using Your phone or tablet.
