You will begin by inserting the ignition key and changing it to the on place to reset the 2004 Ford Focus anti-theft mechanism and then try to start the engine (crank over), which will not start the engine. Wait 10 minutes with the key still in the running spot and the safety light will flash and then go out. Please turn off the key and wait 5 seconds. The anti-theft system should be reset so that it will now be usable to properly start the engine. This may also be triggered by replacing the battery or by draining electricity from the battery. The pass lock sensor may also cause this to be defective and this would cause the anti-system to go off and deter the car from starting. There are several different problems that might alarm the device and most possibly involve some troubleshooting or an OBD diagnostic tool to diagnose the problem.

In order to reset the anti theft indicator, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" position without starting the engine, and then leave it in this position for ten minutes, and then start the engine.
