Yes, even going all the way back to the original Honda Odyssey of the 90's they have always used a timing belt rather than a timing chain. This move may be because having a belt keeps production costs down a little bit. Belts may not be able to last as long as the chains do but they're still very efficient parts. The recommended replacement interval for them is about 60,000 miles at the MINImum and 80,000 at maximum. It may be possible for them to even make it to 100,000 miles but it's always best to have them replaced before it becomes a serious issue. If You wait too long and it breaks You will not be able to start Your vehicle at all. -

Yes, the 2018 Honda Odyssey has a timing belt. In the past, Honda has sometimes used a timing chain on one engine type and a timing belt on another. Belts will need to be replaced at around 60,000 miles.
