The oil type for the 2018 Ford Fusion uses a fully synthetic motor oil. The 1.5l uses SAE 5w-20 oil and can hold 4.2 quarts. The 2.0l 4 -cylinder and the 2.5l 4 -cylinder engines both use SAE 5w-30 oil and have a capacity of 5.7 quarts. The 2.7l v6 engine uses SAE 5w-30 and can hold 6 quarts. Synthetic oil is by far better for performance. It protects the engine due to lower levels of friction. Switching between synthetic and conventional oils will not cause any damage to an engine. Synthetic blends are a mixture of synthetic and conventional oil. Synthetic oil keeps engines cleaner. When oil travels through the engine, it picks up debris and deposits from tiny fragments of dirt and tiny slivers of metal which damage engines.

The 2018 Ford Fusion has many different trim options. As such, there are many different combination of size and type of engine and oil recommendations for all. The SE uses 5W-20 oil. The Energi Platinum 2.0, Energi SE Luxury 2.0, Energi Titanium 2.0, S Hybrid 2.0, SE Hybrid 2.0 (U), Platinum Hybrid 2.0 and Titanium Hybrid 2.0 (U) all use 0W-20 synthetic oil. The S 2.5 (7), S 2.5 (T), SE 2.5 (7) and SE 2.5 (T) all use 5W-20 viscosity. The Sport 2.7 (P) is the only trim type that uses of 5W-30 oil.
