The 2017 Chevy Malibu has the option of a backup camera, specifically called the Rear Vision Camera, on the 1LS, 1LT, and the Premier trim levels. When in use the area at the rear of the car will be displayed on the 8" touchscreen. Guidelines may also be shown. The camera view can help with parking and backing up at low speeds. If equipped with Parking Assist, sensors in the rear bumpers will trigger a warning for any potential objects. A graphic is shown on the screen to show object distance. You may also get a sound alert if You are too close to something. This feature is only active if Your speed is under 5 mph.

The Malibu has a variety of safety features, some of which are options while others are standard across all trim levels. The LS and up have the backup camera option. This safety feature has become more and more popular as consumers see how much easier it is to back up with the visual aide.
