“ChrisFixx” is a popular YouTuber with over 6.9 million subscribers (as of October 2020), who tune in for his original tutorial videos that show vehicle owners how to save money and learn how to handle their own car repairs.
In his latest video, he shares a walk-around of his dream car, an AM General Hummer H1. The video is broken up into several parts that include:

- Making some mods of his own

Finding His Dream Car
ChrisFix explains how he’s been fascinated with Hummer trucks since he was a kid, even going so far as to hang up posters on his wall and buy small models of these trucks.
He also recalls that his parents used to take him to local dealerships to look at Hummers in person and that he would collect brochures and dream about owning one someday.
When he finally saved up enough money from his YouTube channel to buy his dream car, he started with a website called Auto Tempest, which made it possible for him to search multiple used car sites at once.
Ultimately, he was able to find the perfect vehicle for him: a 1996 AM General Hummer H1.
Checking out the Modifications
ChrisFix goes on to explain how this Hummer is different from the “typical” Hummer that gets poor fuel economy, is unreliable, and is generally not a practical car to drive around.
Specifically, this one has had numerous modifications done to it that actually make it a sensible vehicle for everyday driving. ChrisFix walks us through some of these modifications in the video, starting with the custom engine.
When this Hummer was sold, it was outfitted with a 6.5L V8 engine at 170 horsepower; this engine took a whopping 16 seconds to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour and got just 10 miles per gallon on a good day.
However, it was retrofitted with a Duramax diesel engine and an upgraded transmission; this new engine puts out an incredible 450 horsepower and allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in just seven seconds.
Meanwhile, this engine also gets more like 15 miles to the gallon, which is actually better than many trucks and large SUVs on the market from the era.
He also explains that with so much power under the hood, a great braking system is also a must.
Fortunately, this Hummer has received upgraded brakes with a stopping distance of just 140 feet from 60 miles per hour to a dead stop. Not bad!
Some other modifications that were made on this Hummer before ChrisFix even bought it included sealing and painting of the entire frame to protect against rust, as well the addition of a trailer hitch to effortlessly tow a 28-foot trailer.
What he really loves about this truck, though, is its ladder access to the roof. This is great not just for additional storage, but for recreation as well. He explains that you could easily pitch a tent or even set up a few lawn chairs on the roof of this massive truck.
Making Some Modifications of His Own
Of course, no ChrisFix vehicle purchase would be complete if he didn’t make some modifications and repairs of his own. There are a few modifications that he decides to make on his dream car to make it even more tailored to his lifestyle.
This begins with some general maintenance, such as topping off fluids and replacing light bulbs. He also replaces some window and door locks that were not functional when he bought the vehicle.
The most major change he makes to the Hummer, though, is to add a snorkel so that he can take the vehicle through water more confidently without worrying about accidentally damaging the expensive engine.

Once the modifications and repairs are complete, ChrisFix shows off his dream truck by taking it off-roading and even driving through 30 inches of water to test out the new snorkel system he has installed.
