Reliability is important any time you buy a new or used car, so we’re providing some details on the 2020 Ford Edge and its reliability below. This includes recall information from the NHTSA and feedback from current owners.

More about the Ford Edge

The 2020 Ford Edge is part of this midsize SUV’s second generation of production, which made its debut for the 2015 model year. Since then, the Edge has seen some upgrades and changes, including a new ST Line trim for 2020.

For the 2020 model year, the Edge also receives dual-zone automatic climate control as a standard feature across every trim, so you and your passengers can stay more comfortable no matter what the weather holds.

With seating for up to five passengers plus more than 39 cubic feet of cargo storage space, the 2020 Edge is available in four trim configurations, most of which are powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine at 250 horsepower.

Opt for an ST trim, though, and you’ll instead receive a twin-turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine at 335 horsepower for a little more excitement behind the wheel. This model also comes standard with all-wheel drive.

Speaking of standard equipment, the base SE trim receives such features as:

  • A Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • An eight-inch touchscreen display
  • A six-speaker sound system

Looking for more luxurious features? Consider upgrading to the Titanium trim, which receives:

  • Larger 19-inch wheels (instead of 18-inch wheels)
  • Leather upholstery
  • A 12-speaker sound system
  • A heated steering wheel
  • A hands-free power liftgate

The 2020 Ford Edge also receives a 3/5 reliability rating, according to U.S. News & World Report, which is “about average.” This SUV comes with Ford’s three-year, 36,000-mile warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

2020 Ford Edge Recalls & Complaints

There are two open recalls on the 2020 Ford Edge as of November of 2020. Read more about these recalls below, as well as other owner complaints that you’ll want to be aware of before you buy.

Rearview Camera Recall

NHTSA Recall ID: 20V575000

In September of 2020, a recall was issued on more than 620,000 Ford vehicles (including the Ford Edge) after it was discovered that a poor electrical connection can lead to issues with the vehicle’s rearview camera display.

Considering all new vehicles sold in the United States are now required to have backup cameras, not having a reliable rearview camera on your 2020 Edge can be a real hassle and may increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is addressing this recall by completely replacing the rearview cameras on all affected models.

Start/Stop Accumulator Recall

NHTSA Recall ID: 20V550000

This small recall affects less than 100 2019-2020 Ford models, but it is still worth noting so you have all the information you need if you’re considering a 2020 Edge as your next vehicle.

In models affected by this recall, the start/stop accumulator endcap on the transmission may have missing or loose bolts, which could result in a fluid leak and loss of transmission function.

Ford is handling this recall by replacing the start/stop accumulator on all affected models at no charge.

Water Pump Failure

A VehicleHistory.com review posted by Duance Storm in September of 2020 mentions several issues, including the recalled backup camera problem. However, he also reports an issue with the vehicle’s water pump failing.

The owner claims that this water pump problem is a known issue that Ford has failed to recall or address and that it can cause damage to the engine if the pump fails while driving.
