Is having Bluetooth important to you when looking for a new vehicle? If so, then a Ford vehicle might be just what you’ve been looking for. However, there are some Ford Bluetooth problems to consider first.

What are the Ford Bluetooth problems?

Ford vehicles come with some great features including Bluetooth; however, many people have reported the following Ford Bluetooth problems.

  • Ford Sync phone button not working
  • Bluetooth keeps disconnecting
  • Ford Sync no longer streams Bluetooth audio
  • Bluetooth not working
  • Ford Sync microphone not working

These are some of the most common Ford Bluetooth problems reported.

Now, let’s quickly go over a little Ford Bluetooth history. Then we will take a look at each of these issues a bit closer. We will tell you what those issues are and if there is a fix, we will give you that too.

A Little Ford Bluetooth History

Ford Sync is factory-installed and integrated into a Ford vehicle’s communications and entertainment system.

It enables a user to make hands-free phone calls, control music, and perform a wide variety of other functions using voice commands including 911 Assist, multilingual intelligence, vehicle health reports, and Ford work solutions.

The Ford Bluetooth was first introduced in 2007 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit; however, they were not the first ones to start including it in their vehicles.

Five Common Ford Bluetooth Problems

Ford SYNC Phone Button Not Working

This problem has been reported by multiple people. The issue is the phone button just stops working and none of the functions work either. The USB and AUX hookups were reported as dead and unresponsive. Pulling the fuse and disconnecting the battery did not work.

One consumer stated that the dealer said it was an APIM problem and was able to fix it by replacing the module.

Other people have reported not being able to find a fix. So, if this happens to your vehicle, you can either check the internet for possible new solutions or take it to a mechanic to troubleshoot the problem for you.

Bluetooth Keeps Disconnecting

This is one of the common Ford Bluetooth problems that is usually caused by a phone update or changes to the phone’s settings. The fix could vary depending on your phone’s operating system.

Therefore, consider searching the internet for possible solutions. And if you don’t find anything, consider taking it to a dealer to see if there is a fix available.

Ford Sync No Longer Streams Bluetooth Audio

This issue is frustrating for a large number of people. There are several different fixes being reported such as removing the associated fuse for 10 seconds then putting it back.

However, the most popular fix is to disconnect the battery for about 20 seconds then reconnect it, which seems to be easier for most people than finding and pulling a fuse. It’s also the fix that seems to work for most people.

Bluetooth Not Working

When your Bluetooth is not working, you are having any other Ford Bluetooth problems, or you are transferring ownership of the vehicle, you will have to perform a master reset.

A master reset will erase all stored data including the call history, texts, and all previously paired phones, then it restores the system to the factory settings. If this doesn’t work, you will probably have to schedule a service repair to find out what the problem is and to have it fixed.

Ford Sync Microphone Not Working

This has happened to a few people. One of them said he had a reverse camera installed along with a new dimming rearview mirror and that is when the microphone stopped working.

It was later discovered the Ford Sync microphone was not working because it was located in the old mirror which was removed. So, keep this in mind if for whatever reason you replace the rearview mirror because that is where the Bluetooth microphone is located.
