More About the 2020 Kia Optima

Debuting as part of the Optima’s fourth generation, the 2020 Kia Optima features some new standard features compared to 2019’s model, including a forward-collision mitigation warning system with pedestrian detection.

This midsize, five-passenger sedan is available in four trim configurations, ranging from the base LX and sporty S to the luxurious EX and top-of-the-line SX.

Depending on the trim you select, you can expect to find one of three available engines: a standard 2.4L four-cylinder engine (185 horsepower), turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder (178 horsepower), or a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder (245 horsepower).

The standard engine and the turbocharged 2.0L are paired with a six-speed automatic, whereas the turbocharged 1.6L receives a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Every 2020 Optima comes with front-wheel drive.

Regardless of trim, every 2020 Optima is equipped with such standard features as an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easy smartphone integration on-the-go.

Every 2020 Optima also comes with the following safety features:

  • Lane-keep assist with departure warning
  • Forward-collision warning
  • Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Rearview camera and rear parking sensors
  • Drive attention monitoring and warning

What’s Unique About the S Trim?

With so much to offer on even the base LX trim, you might be wondering what makes stepping up to the S trim worth your while.

Let’s start with the S trim’s exclusive styling, which is sure to turn heads. Not only does this trim receive larger 18-inch wheels for a smoother ride, but it also features a rear spoiler to cut down on drag, as well as dual-exhaust tips and foglights.

For your convenience, every 2020 Optima S also comes with keyless entry and ignition, so you’ll never have to dig around for your keys to get into your car or even start the engine. A hands-free trunk is also standard, making loading and unloading a breeze.

Speaking of trunks, the 2020 Optima S also boasts a generous 15.9-cubic-foot trunk for all your everyday storage needs. When you need even more space, the Optima S’s 60/40 split-folding rear seats make it easy to accommodate more cargo.

The 2020 Optima S is also equipped with some luxurious upgrades, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a combination of cloth and faux-leather upholstery.

And while this trim is still outfitted with the Optima’s base 2.4L four-cylinder engine rather than the turbocharged option, you’ll still enjoy plenty of power and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 mpg combined (24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway).

Is a 2020 Kia Optima S Right for You?

From its sporty styling to its convenient features and luxurious interior, there’s a lot to love about the 2020 Kia Optima S. Considering one for your next ride? Check its Vehicle History to find out everything you need to make an informed purchase.
