How do I know if my Ford has a recall?

If you are curious and want to find out if your Ford has had any recalls issued on it then you can always check with the official Ford website recalls section and enter your vehicle's VIN. From there it will let you know if there have been any recalls issued on your car.

You can also check the NHTSA website at http://www.nhtsa.gov and enter your VIN or your year make and model to see if there have been any recalls issued on your vehicle. From there you can read about the recall campaigns, see if any solutions have been proposed, and learn what Ford will do to fix the car.

Ford and all other automotive manufacturers are also supposed to attempt to reach out to you when there is a recall. Typically they will contact you with either a phone call or a postcard in the mail that will let you know of any recalls on your car.

How do you check if my car has had recall work done?

If you want to know if your car has had the recall work done the best thing that you can do is contact a Ford dealership. If you give them your VIN, which is located on the lower driver side of the windshield, they can let you know if anything has been done. Most of the dealerships across the country use a nationwide database that allows them to track the recall status on any Ford vehicle.

Recalls for Ford are all handled through the dealership network. Ford compensates the dealerships for the cost of the parts and labor needed to fix the problem that caused the recall to be issued in the first place.

If you are not sure if your car has any recalls on it at all then you can reach out to Ford, or the NHTSA website at http://www.nhtsa.gov and using your VIN or make and model they can let you know if there are any recalls that have been issued.

Does Ford fix recalls for free?

When Ford issues a recall for any failing components in a car they do fix them all for free. They will use their nationwide dealership network to handle the labor portion of the recall.

Typically what happens is Ford will find a certain number of failing components in cars. From there they will determine if the number of failed parts meets the threshold to issue a recall. Typically if it is safety-related, like airbags, they have to issue a recall to keep the cars in compliance with the federal safety standards.

When you are notified that your car has a recall on it contact your nearest Ford dealership and let them know you received information about a recall campaign. From there they will be able to get you set up with an appointment to bring your car in and have the problem fixed free of charge. The dealership will send the bill for the parts and labor to Ford and it will cost you nothing to fix.
